Cities: Skylines 2 Studio is Targeting Performance of 30FPS on PC, Sees No Benefit in 60FPS

Cities: Skylines 2 has received another hotfix, this time one that stops your cities from overflowing with garbage and lowers the number of stray pets popping up around town. 

You know, I still want to play Cities: Skylines 2. But I had to stop because of a showstopping bug. Today, Colossal Order has released a patch to finally fix that bug. Possibly.

The city-planning game is intricately crafted to provide beautiful graphics and an AI for things like traffic patterns and even individual sims walking around the world, giving it a sense of realism. The large skyscrapers, unique special buildings, and the Developer Mode tools give users the ability to be as artistic as they want, or simply play the game and let the city build itself as it will.

In order for your metropolis to thrive in Cities: Skylines 2 you will need to fulfill the requirements of the diverse zones you set out. As you progress and level up your city, you will start to notice that additional buildings and businesses demand more educated workers.

Building a city from the ground up in Cities: Skylines 2 isn’t easy and won’t be cheap. To establish a lot of your infrastructure you’re going to need money consistently, and it helps if that cash is coming in fast.

Cities: Skylines 2 studio Colossal Order has pledged not to release paid DLC for its city building sequel until its heavily criticised performance issues have been «fixed to our standards».

Cities: Skylines 2 devs Colossal Order have said that the game known as the Builder of Cities and Destroyer of Framerates (at least, known as of me typing this) won’t get any paid expansions while they’re still getting its performance up to scratch.

Cities: Skylines 2 had a rough launch, as performance issues plagued the city builder simulation and PC players have struggled with the poor optimization. Some settings can be changed to provide a better experience, but knowing which ones can be challenging if you don’t know what they do.

has proven essentially unplayable for many people, and a potential reason for the situation is strangely granular and more than a little bit silly. As a follow-up to the hugely successful city building simulator, the newest game from developer Colossal Order Ltd. had some major shoes to fill. It's possible that the game will be able to live up to its predecessor, but it's difficult to have a conversation about features and improvements when performance is getting in the way of doing much of anything.

Anno 1800 gained an impressive score of 84 from us back when it was reviewed in April 2019.  Reviewer Rick Lane said this «rich and sumptuous city-builder» was «comfortably the most engrossing city-builder I’ve played since Cities Skylines», but If you've not had the chance to try it then the Anno 1800 Free Week event is an opportunity to find out for yourself.
