Formerly known as Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purribean, but now renamed Cat Quest 3, the third game in developer The Gentlebros' charming series is sailing to PS5 and PS4 on the 8th August. The title also has a new trailer that's stuffed with fresh gameplay footage — and if, like us, you're a fan of the first two games, then you'll likely think it looks fangtastic.
The sequel is clearly more ambitious in what it's trying to achieve, throwing ship combat into the mix along with what seem to be side-scrolling elements. And yes, you can once again play through the whole adventure in local co-op.
Purrty doggone good
Like we say, if the previous Cat Quest titles are anything to go by, this is going to be a banger. Are you a Cat Quest fan? Make for land in the comments section below.
Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, he's played 'em all — a little too much, some might say.
Meow you’re talking! Love me some Cat Quest.
If you haven't played them then go do it meow!
These are fun games. Got the plat for the first two and will likely make it the set when this releases (or perhaps a year or so afterwards).
Purrfect! Can't wait to explore the Purribean and fight the pi-rats!
“ And yes, you can once again play through the whole adventure in local co-op. “
Does that include player 2 getting their own pirate sailing ship, or is it something stupid like Nintendo would do where 1 person steers and the other person presses a button to shoot the cannon?
Haven’t played 1 of these before but it seems like a good series to play with my wife, going to check reviews and sales for the other games.
Just read @ShogunRok review for the second game, which was so incredibly short I think his comments have a longer word count, and it sounds really good, so going to pick that up while we wait for the 3rd game.
Reminds me I have number 2 on my backlog, I think I'll try and move it up the running order.
This looks kinda gorgeous i think ill bite anyone knows if the firsr games are any good?
@rjejr Hahaha, putting the mini in mini review!
Definitely pre-ordering, the first two games were so much fun.
I’ve picked up the first two across the various store sales over the years, haven’t played them though. Judging by some of the comments though, they seem to garner some love so I might have to fit them in at some point.
Now that the trilogy is about to be over. How how dog quest next?
Enjoyed the first one, second one is somewhere in my library… one for a future sale purchase.
Such a great series. Glad
