It’s been a pretty successful year for Capcom thus far. The company released its second-quarter and first-half fiscal year 2023 financials, with performance in line with current forecasts. It has a big release in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy, out in January 2024. However, what about the unannounced “major title” it discussed earlier this year that would sell millions?
Though it hasn’t announced the title in question, Capcom has reiterated that it’s still releasing in the second half of fiscal year 2023 by March 31, 2024, at the latest. In a recent Q&A, it was asked how it would achieve its sales goal of 45 million copies. It replied (translation via Resetera), “In the second half of this fiscal year, we plan to releaseApollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy in January in addition to a currently unannounced major title.
“Moreover, we plan to boost the sales figures of new titles in the first half of this fiscal year to achieve the target.” Again, no details on what the project is, but it could very well be announced in the coming months.
You could assume that it’s Pragmata or Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, with the former delayed to an unknown date and the latter not having a release window. However, the keyword is “unannounced”, and the only titles that shift so many millions in a short period are Resident Evil or Monster Hunter. Perhaps it’s related to the Monster Hunter tease from the 20th anniversary video? Time will tell, so stay tuned for more updates.

I keep Caves of Qud and Dwarf Fortress in the same mental filing cabinet. Both consist of a very thin layer of graphics (though thicker now in Dwarf Fortress' case) spread atop a fathomless clockwork of interlocking gameplay systems and strange simulations. They are, if you ask me, two of the best and most impressive games ever made, and now Qud has gotten even wider, deeper, and weirder.

The open world co-op survival game I liked most was Wurm Online, in which every action was performed via a right-click menu and we needed a town meeting to discuss who would spend the hours necessary to flatten a small patch of land.

Hello folks. A small bit of RPS Game Club news today. Since it's starting to get toward end of the year season, Game Club will be taking a short break for the next two months. has already released on PC, but it's a bit harder to find a quick answer to plans for a PlayStation 5 launch. The game is set to make the transition to console in November, but the status of the planned sequel as an Xbox Series S/X launch exclusive suggests a partnership between developer Studio Wildcard and Microsoft that could apply a similar exclusivity situation to Luckily, speculation isn't necessary, as Wildcard has referenced console plans in more detail than the vague references made in some of the development updates.
