Capcom apologise for 'not meeting expectations' with Street Fighter V, say “self-reflection” made SF6 better

There’s been ample incentive to rejoin the fight in Street Fighter 6 recently, as Ed just released as a new playable character. But that’s not all that’s going on with the acclaimed brawler, as a new Fighter Pass is now live, featuring cosmetics and content inspired by Capcom’s side-scrolling superstar, Mega Man.

Capcom has unveiled Capcom Highlights, a new event that will be taking place over two days, bringing new updates and details on upcoming titles by the company, as well as new content coming to previously released game.

Capcom has revealed that a new Mega Man-themed Fighting Pass is going live in Street Fighter 6. The fighting game's third DLC fighter, Ed, joined the roster last month, bringing with him balance changes to characters like Jamie, Ryu, Luke, and more. The Psycho-powered fighter was also added to Street Fighter 6's single player World Tour mode, where he can be found in a Metro City subway station at night.

Just days after the conclusion of Capcom Cup X, Capcom has dropped a new update for Street Fighter 6, adding Street Fighter 5 alum Ed as the game’s latest DLC character. The update also includes a number of balance changes, though they’re a bit narrower in scope than we expect to see later on.

The creators of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered have apologised to players for releasing an unfinished version of the game on the Epic Games Store, following a series of unflattering comparisons between versions on ye olde social media.

Street Fighter 6 fans can look forward to Ed’s addition to the roster on February 27th. As the third DLC character, his release brings a new stage, Ruined Lab, with hints regarding M. Bison’s current state. However, fans are probably looking forward to the arrival of Akuma, the fourth and final DLC character in the Year 1 Pass.

Nowadays, it’s sadly rather common to find titles that were launched prematurely. They’re launched thinking that “no one will mind the state that they’re in” and that they’ll simply “be fixed with patches later on. But back when Street Fighter V launched, things were much different. It was rare for a “big name franchise” to have a launch that made people question the developer, as gamers still had plenty of trust in them at the time. Yet, with this fighting title, almost everything about it was “off,” and Capcom should’ve known better than to try and do this franchise so dirty. The irony is that they’re finally truly apologizing for it eight years after its release.
