Activision has officially announced that, while players will still be able to play the DMZ game mode in the newest iteration of Call of Duty: Warzone, the mode is essentially getting cut off from the rest of the game with the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1.
While players will still be able to access DMZ through the Call of Duty: Warzone section of COD HQ, the mode will essentially not be available through Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. This also means that DMZ mode will not affect any progression for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone going forward, including Battle Pass and store bundles.
This also essentially means that there won’t be any new content coming to the DMZ mode, since it looks like Activision wants to focus on taking what it learned in developing the mode and apply it to the core game. Check out the full statement below.

Activision’s statement on DMZ:
We would like to thank the entire community for their support and continued feedback on the DMZ Beta. Infinity Ward and all the development teams who contributed to the creation of DMZ are incredibly proud and delighted to see the enthusiasm and participation that you’ve shown since its release, and to see so many players pouring into the MWZ mode in Modern Warfare III, which has many DMZ-inspired gameplay aspects within it.
Beginning with next week’s launch of Season 1, DMZ Beta players can continue the mode via the Call of Duty: Warzone section of COD HQ. The DMZ Beta will remain fully playable across all current DMZ content, including Al Mazrah, Ashika Island, the Koschei Complex, Building 21, Vondel, as well as all DMZ missions. The mode will not be available or interact directly within Modern Warfare III or Call of Duty: Warzone which means that progression and any new Modern Warfare III or Warzone content, including Battle Pass or store bundles, will not sync or carry back into this DMZ mode. Also, DMZ progress will not apply to new Battle Passes beginning with Season 1.
We recognize that not having cross progression with Modern Warfare III and Warzone may be frustrating for some players, but we felt now was the time to take all the learnings from the Beta that we could apply toward future development efforts as we evolve this style of play. We also know that many players still enjoy the mode and wanted to ensure that everybody can keep playing,

During The Game Awards 2023, a joking remark made by God of War voice actor Christopher Judge about the length of his acceptance speech for winning Best Performance for his work as Kratos last year has drawn the ire of Call of Duty developers. Joking about the length of his speech last year, Judge stated that his speech was longer than the campaign for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

, which offers players an underwater narrative adventure, will soon have a physical release of both the title itself and a special vinyl soundtrack. Released earlier this year, the game comes from developer Parallel Studios and publisher Quantic Dream, the latter of which is known for titles like and. Call of Duty's DMZ mode launched as part of Warzone 2.0 and, at the time, felt like it could be the next big multiplayer thing. Shows what I know, but the mode was essentially a fast-paced and slicker take on some key Tarkov mechanics, and the PvEvP rhythm was a welcome change in pace for the oft-relentless Warzone.
Turns out CD Projekt has even more plans for Cyberpunk beyond its 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty earlier this year. During a stream detailing the update with developers Paweł Sasko and Monika Janowska, the team at CD Projekt revealed Cyberpunk will be getting a 2.1 update soon that will add a fully functional metro, radioport, replayable car races, boss fight improvements, accessibility features, and more. The updated will be available December 5 (the same day Rockstar is launching the trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto), which will also mark the release of Cyberpunk 2077's Ultimate Edition.
Activision has announced Call of Duty DMZ will no longer receive new content updates, sounding the death knell for the mode.
Over the years, Call of Duty campaigns have delivered the closest distillation of Michael Bay-style cinematic set piece action in video games. The first-person military shooter franchise, perhaps the most popular series of games in the world, has increasingly tilted in favour of its money-spinning multiplayer modes, with gradual introduction of battle passes, microtransactions, and downloadable content, but some of its single player campaigns remain a benchmark for bombastic sequences in the medium. Memorable missions from Call of Duty titles are part of gaming folklore — the raw shock of a nuclear detonation, the tense deliberations of a ghillied-up sniper, and the disturbing implications of a false flag terror attack; CoD campaigns have sustained their commitment to over-the-top, knockout moments with imaginative mission design, the “Oorah” machismo of American military might, and immersive cinematics that punctuate the action.
