Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Developer Investigating Exploit That Allows Sprinting While Prone

During The Game Awards 2023, a joking remark made by God of War voice actor Christopher Judge about the length of his acceptance speech for winning Best Performance for his work as Kratos last year has drawn the ire of Call of Duty developers. Joking about the length of his speech last year, Judge stated that his speech was longer than the campaign for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Activision has officially announced that, while players will still be able to play the DMZ game mode in the newest iteration of Call of Duty: Warzone, the mode is essentially getting cut off from the rest of the game with the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1.

Over the years, Call of Duty campaigns have delivered the closest distillation of Michael Bay-style cinematic set piece action in video games. The first-person military shooter franchise, perhaps the most popular series of games in the world, has increasingly tilted in favour of its money-spinning multiplayer modes, with gradual introduction of battle passes, microtransactions, and downloadable content, but some of its single player campaigns remain a benchmark for bombastic sequences in the medium. Activision has said its new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has broken multiple player engagement records, without providing any specific player numbers.

Despite its controversial campaign and continuing issues with multiplayer, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has done well. Sledgehammer Games tweeted that the sequel had set new engagement records for the reboot trilogy, with more hours per player than Modern Warfare (2019) andModern Warfare 2 (2022).
