Sledgehammer Games debuted new gameplay ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 at Gamescom Opening Night Live, focusing on one of the early campaign missions. It sees Task Force 141 sneaking into Zordaya Prison Complex, following some underwater traversal, and relying on line launchers, silenced weapons and the good ol’ NVG to get by. Check it out below.
It’s not long before the explosives go off, and the team starts blasting. When it’s lights out, players rappel downwards through the prison while firing at enemies. Upon reaching the end, the team breaches a door for their target, who remains unknown. If nothing else, the lighting, shadows and effects are as impressive as ever.

Unlike last year’s entry, Sledgehammer Games is leading development and working with Treyarch on the new open-world Zombies experience. Its open beta goes live on October 6th, with more details coming at the Call of Duty Next showcase.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III just got a gameplay reveal trailer — a slightly misleading title, given most of the footage is loaded with cinematics. Indeed, it is focused on the campaign, which sees Captain Price and his Task Force 141 take on the Russian ultranationalist war criminal Vladimir Makarov, as he extends his grasp across the world. Publisher Activision has introduced a new non-linear campaign structure called ‘Open Combat Missions,' memorable multiplayer maps, and a Zombies mode set in an open world. Pre-orders for the game are now live across all major platforms.
For the first time in back-to-back years, Call of Duty returns with a direct sequel as Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III picks up immediately following the events of last year's incredible blockbuster Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II. This all-new experience is scheduled to be released worldwide on Friday, November 10th allowing players for the first time to continue their journey, progression, and story seamlessly for a new year to come.

Before its official reveal on August 17th, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is seeing its fair share of rumors and leaks (which is par for the course, given the last few months). Insider Gaming and PlayStation Size reported that the sequel is being delivered to Modern Warfare 2 (2022) via add-ons. It now seems that the multiplayer maps are all remastered from Modern Warfare 2 (2009).
Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is out later this year, and despite earlier rumors about it being DLC for Modern Warfare 2, the publisher assures it’s a $70 release. However, Insider Gaming and PlayStation Size on Twitter recently took a “deep dive” into the code. The sequel’s content is seemingly being delivered via add-ons to last year’s title.
Activision is doing something different with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, this year's entry in the blockbuster military shooter series. Rather than starting from scratch and having to rebuild your collection of weapons and cosmetic items, Activision is letting players carry over nearly everything they unlock in Modern Warfare II.
Did you spend dozens of hours unlocking weapons in 2022's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? Are you groaning at the thought of leaving all your precious shootybangs behind, once the Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 remake rolls around on November 10th? Such has ever been the lot of the career CODDER, asked to start anew with every sequel like Sisyphus returning to his boulder, except that Sisyphus didn't have to worry about trolls over voicechat. All that changes with Modern Warfare 3, however, which brings across a "vast amount" of content from Modern Warfare 2, including guns, attachments and cosmetics.
