Welcome to the busiest moviegoing season of the year, when films in theaters are actually worth trekking out to see and everything hitting VOD and streaming is… the movies that came out a few months ago that are also super worth checking out. Ack!

Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina’s Wonderland 2 have been mentioned on a LinkedIn profile of a former Gearbox employee.
Mention of the games appeared on the LinkedIn profile of the former Studio Technical Director of Lost Boys Interactive, Randel Reiss.
Lost Boys Interactive worked with Gearbox as a support studio on the first Tiny Tina game and other Take-Two properties such as WWE 2K23.
Borderlands 3 was released in September 2019, with the spin-off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, releasing in 2022.
In 2022, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said newTiny Tina’s Wonderlands “experiences” were in development after the game “shattered” the company’s targets.
“Wonderlands shattered all of our target expectations, both critically and commercially, and I’m thrilled to report that in addition to great financial rewards from this victory that will be coming our way in the coming quarters, we have established a firm beachhead.
“We now clearly have a new franchise on our hands, with future experiences already under development at Gearbox,” Pitchford said at the time.
Any potential future game in the franchise is likely subject to the ongoing turmoil at Gearbox owners Embracer Group.
Reuters and Bloomberg both claimed in September that Embracer Group was considering selling Gearbox, which It acquired in 2021 in a deal worth up to $1.4 billion, as part of major restructuring plans.
The former was told that Embracer had received interest from third parties keen on buying the studio. Potential buyers, who reportedly mainly consist of “international gaming groups”, already have access to Gearbox marketing materials, it’s claimed.
Take-Two said in August that the Borderlands franchise has sold-in over 81 million units since launching in 2009.
The most recent mainline series entry, 2019’s Borderlands 3, is publishing label 2K’s fastest-selling title and has sold over 18 million copies.
2012’s Borderlands 2 is 2K’s top-selling game since the label’s inception seven years earlier, with over 27 million copies sold.

Insurgency developer New World Interactive are the latest Embracer Group-owned studio to lay off staff, as part of the Swedish conglomerate's efforts to reduce their debts after a series of reckless studio acquisitions. It's not clear how many people have been affected, but New World Interactive's direct corporate parent Saber Interactive have revealed that one unannounced project has been cancelled.
Happy December, Polygon readers. Christmas movie season is here, and there are tons of new Christmas movies slated to come out over the next month.
It’s been a long road back to Hollywood for John Woo. His last American movie was the Ben Affleck-led sci-fi movie Paycheck, a commercial success largely rejected by critics. That was 20 whole years ago. In 2023, though, one of action movies’ greatest minds has returned stateside with Silent Night, a largely dialogue-free revenge thriller that sees the legendary director reinventing his style once again.
Thanksgiving in the United States comes with a number of traditional televised events, but maybe none as seamless and low-key entertaining as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Greetings, Polygon readers!

The latest trend of leaks and speculation online regarding Rockstar Games is their next Grand Theft Auto installment. This video game franchise has had a massive following over the years, but a new installment has been absent for years. Since 2013, fans have been playing with Grand Theft Auto V while waiting for the studio to drop Grand Theft Auto VI. We know the game is in the works; even a trailer is planned for early December. However, a new leak for Grand Theft Auto V has fans talking about some of the past projects Rockstar Games was apparently working on, such as a Bully sequel.
