Borderlands 3 Has Shipped Over 18 Million Units Worldwide

Apple iPhone 15 launch is very near, just weeks away, and the rumour mills are working overtime to out one secret after another. This is not just to please the millions of Apple iPhone fans out there, but also provide some kind of a basis, a foundation, for investors in Apple shares to go by. After all, they want to know very early whether their investment is sound and whether it will keep providing profit into the near and long-term future. And now, a report by 9to5Mac has just revealed some bad news about iPhone 15 production numbers.

Cloud Imperium's Star Citizen will soon receive over $600 million from backers, according to the game's website. At time of writing, the game is a little over $5,000 away from hitting that funding benchmark, and continues to be one of the most expensive games to ever be developed. 

Diablo 4 had a riotously successful launch in June, earning over $666 million in revenue in its first five days to become the biggest opening for a Blizzard Entertainment title in history, and not long afterward, it was confirmed that the game had quickly amassed over 10 million players. Of course, there’s certainly been some controversy and backlash against the action RPG since then, but it seems it’s continuing to attract players at a healthy rate.

We've known Baldur's Gate 3 was selling extremely well on Steam since day one. After all, Larian's triple-A cRPG broke various concurrency records on Valve's platform, reaching rank #9 on Steam's all-time concurrent player chart with a peak of 814K users. Last Sunday, the game registered a new peak of 875K concurrent users, nearly matching the eighth game on that chart (Hogwarts Legacy, another massive success in this year of records, which peaked at 879K on Steam).

The surprisingly emotional and strangely addictive “dystopian document thriller” Papers, Please just turned ten years old and has officially sold five million copies across multiple platforms throughout the past decade. To celebrate the milestone, developer Lucas Pope and his company 3909 LLC released a web game called LCD, Please that allows players to go through certain aspects of the original title.

Take-Two Interactive, the publishing company which owns both Rockstar Games and 2K, released its first-quarter financial results on August 8. There are some pretty impressive numbers in there.

After announcing 40 million unit sales for the PlayStation 5 late last month, Sony has provided updated shipment numbers. In its Q1 fiscal year 2023 financial results, the company confirmed 41.7 million total units shipped as of June 30th, 2023. In the three month period ending on the same date, it shipped 3.3 million console units, which is 900,000 units more than the same quarter from last year.

Nintendo appears to be on a patent-registering spree as it files over 30 patents related to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. 

The Metal Gear franchise has been dormant for a while now. It’s last major release was Metal Gear Survive in 2018, and if you want to completely ignore its existence (which, why wouldn’t you), you’d have to go back to 2015 for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. And yet, despite being treated like a forgotten step-child by Konami, the series is managing to attract its fair share of new sales.
