Some dedicated Baldur's Gate 3 players have recently come up with a unique build based on Princess Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Their creative achievement marks yet another testament to the immense role-playing potential of Baldur's Gate 3.
Although Baldur's Gate 3 has a somewhat restrictive level cap, Larian Studios still managed to deliver a game with a lot of build versatility, as is to be expected for an experience based on the ever-replayable Dungeons and Dragons ruleset. Many distinct builds have consequently been emerging online ever since the game's summer 2023 debut.
One particularly creative character has recently been designed by Final Party, a four-person YouTube channel that came up with a fun Baldur's Gate 3 build based on Princess Azula, the iconic villain from Avatar: The Last Airbender. While the Final Party crew even went to great lengths to make their character resemble the Fire Nation princess from Nickelodeon's popular animated series, the real effort went into mimicking Azula's skill set.
To that end, this Baldur's Gate 3 build started out as a Sorcerer of the Draconic Bloodline subclass, with fairly even Ability Point distribution focused on Dexterity, Constitution, Wisdom, and Charisma. It was then immediately multi-classed into a Monk, specifically its Way of the Four Elements subclass. Between Fangs of the Fire Snake, Sweeping Cinder Strike, and Flurry of Blows, even the level 2 variant of the build already did a decent job at mimicking Azula's firebending and acrobatic prowess.
The following six level-ups were all invested into the Monk class, with the build itself becoming much more powerful once it unlocked an extra attack at level 6. Final Party decided to go back to Sorcerer at level 8 in order to learn three extremely useful Metamagics: Distant Spell, Twinned Spell, and Quickened Spell. This trio vastly increased the Azula-inspired build's casting prowess by boosting its effective spell range and AoE capabilities. From there, the content creators mostly focused on unlocking as much firepower as possible, ranging from Scorching Ray to Lightning Bolt, both of which match Azula's canonical abilities.
Fighting prowess aside, this build also emphasizes Charisma in order to mimic Azula's intimidation skills. In terms of equipment, the creators settled on The Graceful Cloth, Gloves of Cinder and Sizzle, Necklace of Elemental Augmentation, and Pyroquickness Hat, mostly in order to maximize the character's combat potential. The end result of their efforts is something that would likely amuse a number of Larian developers, some of whom happen to be fans of the iconic Nickelodeon series, as suggested by the fact that Baldur's Gate 3 has a fairly elaborate Avatar: The Last
