Larian Studios has released Hotfix 24 for Baldur's Gate 3, fixing one common crash, as well as solving performance problems that many Mac players had been suffering from. Since its release in August last year, Baldur's Gate 3 has remained one of the most popular games on the market, and this latest update makes the experience just a little better.
Despite the recent news that Baldur's Gate 3 isn't getting any DLC, Larian has continued to provide the game with various patches to iron out the overall experience. In a title on the scale of Baldur's Gate 3, there are always going to be more small bugs to fix, and the studio has done a great job of ensuring that many of the biggest issues have never remained in the game for too long. Given Larian's intention to move on from Baldur's Gate 3, it isn't clear how long these patches will continue, but hopefully, the support goes on for a while yet.
The latest Baldur's Gate 3 update is much smaller than other updates. Even the previous Hotfix 23 for Baldur's Gate 3 had a much more extensive list of changes, but the small number of fixes in Hotfix 24 are all extremely important. A crash that appeared during the transition between Act 2 and 3 has been eliminated, while an issue that prevented players from using Short Rests at specific points in the game has been fixed. Many gamers playing the Mac version of Baldur's Gate 3 reported lower performance in the game since Hotfix 21, and this should also now be solved as a result of the latest update.
Although the frequent Hotfixes are a great way for Larian to solve smaller issues in Baldur's Gate 3, the wait goes on for the next large patch. Patch 6 for Baldur's Gate 3 was released back in February, bringing a massive amount of fixes and even some new content to the game. Larian has yet to speak about anything related to Patch 7, and hopefully, it's in the works for a release in the near future.
With Larian moving on from Baldur's Gate 3, it'll be interesting to see the direction the studio takes in the coming years. The critical and commercial success of Baldur's Gate 3 gives the studio room to take any route it wants, and while it's likely gamers won't hear from Larian about its plans for some time, the possibility of it being free from the restrictions of existing IP is an exciting prospect.
