Baldur’s Gate 3 reactivates PS5 cross-saves

While exploring the Underdark, you’ll encounter only a handful of creatures and friendly faces, but plenty of enemies and foes ready to attack you in Baldur’s Gate 3. One of the more friendly faces you can find is Baelen, a mushroom picker exploring the Underdark. Unfortunately, he’s gotten himself into a load of trouble.

Larian Studios has gone on record to say the PS5 version of Baldur's Gate 3 will feature complete parity with the current PC edition when it launches early next month, and the RPG's first patch shares a glimpse at the updates there is to look forward to. Available to scroll through on the official Baldur's Gate 3 website, a frankly absurd list of over 1,000 bug fixes and changes can be viewed, and they'll all be there in the PS5 version too on 6th September 2023.

For those Xbox players who have been waiting on a release for Baldur’s Gate 3 , Larian Studios and Microsoft have finally reached a solution that will allow a 2023 release. 

Though it seemed for a while that Baldur’s Gate 3 might not be able to hit Xbox Series X/S util next year, Larian Studios recently confirmed that the acclaimed RPG will indeed be coming to Xbox in 2023, with splitscreen co-op not supported on Xbox Series S. The studio also confirmed that the game’s Xbox version will support cross-saves with PC, though Larian Studios’ director of publishing Michael Douse has since then clarified that that won’t be all.

Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox will have cross-save compatibility not just with PC but also PlayStation 5 versions of the game when it launches later this year.

Karlach is one of the few companion characters you can find while playing Baldur’s Gate 3. Shortly after meeting her, you’ll discover that an infernal engine has gone into her chest, replacing her heart. It’s a device that can only function in Avernus, and she’s trying her best to repair it throughout your campaign. However, she has few options available, and it looks like the deck is stacked against her.

If, like this author, you’re already deep down the Honkai: Star Rail rabbit hole, with dozens of five-star characters and a wealth of valuable Relics sets to your name, you’ll probably be hoping for cross-save with the upcoming PS5 version. Well, buried in a press release about the game’s upcoming 1.30 update – which is due out on 30th August – developer HoYoverse has promised compatibility across all versions of the game. The blurb reads: “With cross-save and cross-play functions, players can enjoy their game progress across different platforms with more accessibility.”

The critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3 – seriously, have you seen those reviews! – will release later this year in Japan, courtesy of publisher Spike Chunsoft. The firm has snagged the rights to the ridiculously popular PS5 version, and domestic retailers have already started making product pages for digital and physical releases. It should be noted, in the west, the game is only available from the PS Store right now.

Baldur's Gate 3's long-foretold console launch date inches ever closer, and in proof that a Time Stop spell cast on a critical 20 hasn't actually crossed over into our plane of existence, the meaty RPG's various preload times on PS5 have been revealed.

Earlier this week, hotfix four was deployed in Baldur’s Gate 3, but it was quickly rolled back due to it causing crashes. Unfortunately for anyone who happened to save their game after the hotfix was released but before it was rolled back, their save data became temporarily inaccessible.
