While some pieces are certainly better than others due to the stats and bonus effects they have, they don't look the same. Since each piece of gear has a unique look, certain combinations of pieces can give the party both power and style.
Baldur's Gate 3 Player Deals Over 11,000 Damage With An Owlbear

The Adamantine Forge in Baldur's Gate 3 is as tough as mithril nails. You have to fight a giant towering construct in what is one of the game's most unconventional bosses. Swinging a sword and casting spells aimlessly won't get you anywhere. You have to soften it up with lava, lure it to the central pillar, and crush it over and over again. Or you can just dive on it with an owlbear, I guess.
"This was done by stacking Elixir of the Colossus with Scroll of Enlarge to increase my weight class twice," 0Kamro0 explained, attaching a clip of their druid leaping from a height to kill Grym in one shot. "I got a weight of 50,005kg from 23.4m. The total damage was 11,786. This was done in Custom difficulty with everything Tactician except Character Power being Balanced."
When you reach level six with a druid, you can polymorph into an owlbear. So, if you want Grym to be as easy as possible, get your party a healthy dose of experience before braving the forge. In the meantime, keep an eye out for the Elixir of the Colossus and Scroll of Enlarge. Once you're ready, take the former, wildshape, take the latter, and then use Crushing Flight to tear Grym a new one.
You also have to make sure that Grym is superheated, a debuff he gets by walking into the lava.
There is some risk to this strategy, however. Commenter The_DevilAdvocate tried to do it in Honour Mode (the new difficulty where death is permanent and you can't save scum) to avoid the headache of an arduous fight that will likely send them back to the Nautiloid Ship. It didn't go as smoothly as it did for 0Kamro0.
"Decided to try this in Honour Mode," The_DevilAdvocate said. "In Tactician, I really struggled with Grym and decided not to take chances. Fu**ing missed. Thankfully, I had three monks and three ogres as backup."
Players have been finding all kinds of absurd ways to defeat bosses since Baldur's Gate 3 left early access in August. They turned Cazador into a cat, dragged a mountain of explosives to the Absolute so that they could nuke them without sacrificing Gale, and one-shot Ketheric Thorm by reverse pickpocketing 15,000 gold.
We can safely add "hurled an Owlbear the weight of the sun" to that strange list. Now, brb while I go try it on Balthazar.
