Baldur’s Gate 3 Team Stands Up For Bethesda At Starfield Backlash

When many high-profile video games are released within a given year, there will almost always be comparisons between them so long as they fit a general mold. For example, certain kinds of sports games will be compared to one another, or if there are a ton of first-person shooters coming out at once, they’ll be compared to one another, and so on. In 2023, multiple RPGs came out, two of which were Baldur’s Gate 3 and Starfield. While fundamentally different on many levels, some have taken the time to go and compare the two and insult one of the dev teams.

The new Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC patch adds some much-needed quality of life fixes

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet was originally released nearly a year ago on November 18, 2022 – and since then, scores of fans have been asking Game Freak to implement a slate of quality of life features, including ones (frustratingly) previously found in the celebrated Pokemon Legends. Like most things Game Freak-related, some fixes have been rolling out at a snail’s pace, including the updates added in patch 2.0.1, which is now live thanks to the launch of the Teal Mask DLC.

Baldur's Gate 3 has a secret, brutal game over scene for players who somehow overcome every safeguard to permanently lose a critical item

Baldur's Gate 3 might be the new king of RPG attention to detail, as well as champion of the sentiment, «Well, well, well, if it isn't the consequences of my own actions.» Case and point: there's a hidden game over scene for losing a late game plot critical item, one Larian went out of its way to keep you from misplacing. Spoilers up to the beginning of Act 3 ahead.

@Ravix I think I died once in an area with traps where i couldn't find the way out. And from what I can remember it loaded my last save when I died. Didn't really check if there were other consequences. It's a good thing I save a lot for those cases. I'm also not that experienced in D&D or CRPG, so I do a lot of trial and error. Testing what stuff does -> reloading etc to see what other options would do. I can understand that save scumming is being frowned upon for experienced crpg/D&D players, but IMO it can only help new players to D&D/CRPG's.
