Baldur’s Gate 3 Hotfix 8 Out Now, Fixes Several Crashes and Issues

A fortunate Baldur's Gate 3 theorycrafter has discovered that one of the RPG's weapons has the potential to turn a Critical Failure into a Critical Success, all by using the kind of glitchy math made famous by the Civilization series.

If you played a videogame at all in 2022, I hope it was Roadwarden. A blend of RPG and visual novel from Polish developer Moral Anxiety, it cast you as lonesome wayfarer maintaining the paths and investigating the mysteries or grievances of a thinly populated wilderness setting. It was a game of immense feeling, craft and cleverness, inspired by table-top games, which puts some of the hoarier ideas of videogame role-playing through the wringer. Developer Larian Studios hasn't taken the foot off the gas since Baldur's Gate 3 launched, pushing out the second hotfix of the week and the ninth since the game launched on PC at the start of August, with those coming to the PS5 iteration, which launched in September. That's in addition to three full patches, the most recent of which (amongst many other things) improved PlayStation performance, as well as introducing the character-editing Magic Mirror.

Larian Studios released the ninth hotfix for Baldur's Gate 3 this afternoon. The two headline features of this small patch are the ability to change your main character's name and the appearance of the Hirelings via the Magic Mirror (added to Baldur's Gate 3 with Patch 3)

The Baldur’s Gate 3 hotfixes are coming thick and fast. After Hotfix 8, which shaved His Majesty after a cat backlash from fans, came out earlier this week, Larian has now released Hotfix 9, which brings the sprawling Dungeons & Dragons-themed role-playing game up to version number 4.1.1.3767641.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope is now available on the Nintendo Switch. The game, second in The Dark Pictures Anthology series, has previously also been released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Check out the Nintendo Switch launch trailer for Little Hope below.

Envision Entertainment has revealed that medieval-fantasy city builder Pioneers of Pagonia will be released in Early Access on December 13. To celebrate the news, Envision has also released a free demo that is available now on Steam. In the demo, players will have the opportunity to build a thriving medieval community of thousands of inhabitants. The demo is available in many languages including German, English, Spanish, French, and Polish.

The final content update for Sonic Frontiers is available now on PS5, PS4, and it's one of the most important of the lot, making Sonic the Hedgehog's side-kicks Amy, Knuckles, and Tails all playable. As part of an additional narrative timed before the final battle on Ouranos Island, the three characters search for Chaos Emeralds to help the blue blur.
