Baldur's Gate 3 director and Larian founder Swen Vincke has revealed that the studio is working on more endings for the game, teasing them as being «really evil.» Although Baldur's Gate 3 already has plenty of endings, having more possibilities in the game is always a welcome addition.
There has been a huge amount of news about the future of Baldur's Gate 3 of late. Recently, Vincke revealed that Larian would not be working on any Baldur's Gate 3 DLC or sequel, confirming that the studio is moving forward with plans of its own, with the future of the franchise in the hands of Wizards of the Coast. Considering the enormous success of Baldur's Gate 3, it was news that came as a surprise to many in the community. However, Larian is likely aware that it has created plenty of fans for life with its recent release, allowing it to branch out into different types of games. While paid content isn't on the way, it seems the studio has plans underway for a few free updates yet.
In an interview with IGN, Baldur's Gate 3 director Swen Vincke confirmed that while gamers are «not going to see massive content changes,» the developer is «working on the evil endings rights now. I've seen some of them. They're really evil.» While Vincke doesn't confirm it explicitly, it seems possible that this will include more Dark Urge endings forBaldur's Gate 3, which already feature some of the most interesting ways for the game to conclude. However, no time frame was given by Vincke for the release of the new endings.
Overall, this is great news for those who want to complete an evil Baldur's Gate 3 playthrough. Many players feel this route largely results in a loss of content, as plenty of the game's companions will leave or be killed upon completion of certain evil actions. Minthara, the game's evil companion, is the exception to this, and she has unfortunately proven to be extremely buggy at times. Larian is fixing this more with every patch, but Minthara is still not perfect. Having more incentive to complete an evil playthrough is exactly what Baldur's Gate 3 needs right now, so it'll be exciting to see what these endings bring to the table.
While work goes on in the background to get the new endings out, Larian has continued to update the game to iron out any remaining bugs. Recently, Baldur's Gate 3 released Hotfix 22, which primarily fixed a lot of the bugs with companion Minthara. Despite Larian being set to move on from the Baldur's Gate franchise, it's great to see how committed the studio is to perfecting the game before finally letting it go.
