Baldur’s Gate 3 character creator tool lets you test builds right now

UL Solutions, the developers of the popular 3DMark benchmarking application, have released a new cross-platform ray tracing benchmark. It's called Solar Bay and it's available as a free update for owners of 3DMark.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is not only my favorite RPG game of all time, but it’s hands-down the greatest gameplay experience that I’ve ever had. Larian Studios recently released the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired game out of early access, and it has since been flying through every chart imaginable. Among the vast variety of features found in Baldur’s Gate 3, character appearance changes are nowhere to be found. Larian Studios has just confirmed that they are indeed working on implementing such a system, though.

Fellow fans of a mid-playthrough character makeover rejoice, forBaldur's Gate 3 should be rectifying its biggest mistake sometime in the future.

Heads up—I'm about to get into some major spoilers for Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3. There's no way to talk about this new bizarre speedrun category without getting arms-deep into Gale's backstory, and the optional ending it gives you.

Dungeons & Dragons parties can be of any size. There's no real limit unless the DM is uncomfortable with eight people wailing on two little goblins. Baldur's Gate 3 is different. You can only have four people in a group, so you have to pick and choose who to bring with you on your adventure. But modders aren't having any of that, as SildurFX has already removed the limit for the full-release version of the game.

In every genre of video games, there are the “standard bearers.” These are the titles that everyone holds in the highest esteem because they “changed the game” or redefined how the genre, or the video game space as a whole, should think about things. In our modern era, there are fewer opportunities for titles to “change the game,” so when one appears to come around, people praise it. The arrival of Baldur’s Gate 3 is one such example. It might look or feel like an “old-school RPG but with modern updates,” but it’s so much more than that, as many have noted.

This Baldur's Gate 3 mod lets you ignore the RPG's level 12 cap and reach level 20, the only catch is that you need to multiclass to use it. 

Baldur's Gate 3 is enormous in both scale and—against even Larian's expectations—popularity. In fact, it's so massive that it's slipped the boundaries of your PC and begun gushing all over your table, in the form of a set of free BG3-themed goodies you can collect right now at D&D Beyond that will help you translate the game's companions to a tabletop game.

Climbing in Skyrim is a headache. You can awkwardly jump up the sides of mountains, but odds are, you'll hit a slope and tumble down. With buildings, it's even harder. You need to find the right stack of objects and hope you reach the ledge. Or you can jump out of bounds in Whiterun to see absolutely nothing. You aren't meant to be climbing around like Ezio. But one modder has implemented a way to at least scale ledges.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is here, and the incredibly intricate and deep Larian RPG game can be difficult to parse at the best of times, so it’s vital to be prepared.
