Assassin's Creed Red, the next entry in the series by Ubisoft set in Feudal Japan, has seen its first information surface, revealing in-game mechanics and the engine behind it.
For those unaware, Assassin's Creed Red is going to be an open world action RPG, and it is planned to launch before March 2025, according to the publisher. Now, Insider Gaming has reportedly obtained initial footage of Assassin's Creed Red, specifically revealing the gameplay mechanics and an update on the game's engine.
It is reported that the upcoming Assassin's Creed title won't be completely shifted to a new engine. Rather, it will be a part of an upgraded version named "Anvil Pipeline". The outlet discloses that Anvil Pipeline will play a huge role in providing a unified approach for the studios involved in the franchise's development, hence creating a more optimized way to make the game's future installments. From a technical standpoint, users can expect features like ray traced global illumination and virtual geometry, and Assassin's Creed Red is also said to sport overhauled animations, parkour system, dynamic weather, and more.
Moving on to the more interesting bits, Insider Gaming shared a sneak peek of what to expect with the in-game mechanics, starting with the combat department. It is said that Assassin's Creed Red is quite similar to its predecessor, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, albeit with a lot more gore such as decapitations. Moreover, stealth will be more important than ever, allowing players to extinguish torches, hide in tall grass and bushes, and even go prone to avoid enemy sight.
Another exciting inclusion is the debut of the Hideouts feature, which expands on the Settlements seen in Valhalla. Here, players will be able to build an armory, a doko, and more. Additionally, Hideouts will come with extensive customization options as well, including roof design, interior layouts, and more.
Unlike Assassin's Creed Mirage, Assassin's Creed Red is likely to be targeting only PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.
