Assassin's Creed Mirage Maintains the More Traditional AC Vibes in Its Final Trailer | Push Square

Lords of the Fallen is this week's Souls-like, hot off the grimdark presses, and we enjoyed our time with the game, awarding it 7/10 in our review. If you've been anticipating this one, you'll be glad to know that it launches fairly imminently, depending on what part of the world you call home, and preload is now live on PS5.

Warm Snow is an action roguelike, a simpler game in the style of Hades, and like it, puts its story front and centre. It's coming to PS5 and PS4 on 20th October, and we got an animated story trailer to help set the scene.

Hands up: who remembers Hogs of War? Published by Infogrames late in the PS1's life, this was a 3D, military-themed, turn-based strategy game, only instead of human soldiers, it was pigs at war with each other. Playing a little bit like a 3D Worms (before Worms 3D existed), it secured cult hit status thanks to its silly British humour and fun multiplayer battles. If you're among those who fondly remember this oddball title, you're in luck — it's coming back.

If you haven't been keeping an eye on early 2024, we'd encourage you to do so. The current release schedule is, quite frankly, absurd. In the space of just under two months, we're getting:

Head on over to the PlayStation Store today and you may notice that Atlus has just released something called 'The Persona Collection'. It's a digital bundle that includes Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 3 Portable. It's priced at $89.99 / £72.99, which is obviously less than what you'd pay if you bought the three titles separately (when they're not discounted, at least).

Empire of the Ants is certainly not a game we expected to be announced for the PS5, but now we’ve seen it in action, we’re intrigued. The Microids outing – officially due out in 2024 – promises to take you on an “extraordinary journey through the infinitesimally small” as you “guide your colony towards a brighter future”.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is now the biggest new-gen launch for Ubisoft, according to the official Assassin’s Creed X account on Wednesday. The French publisher shared its Assassin’s Creed Mirage sales news, noting figures include PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Ubisoft also provided some fun stats about our playtime.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a back-to-basics for the franchise, acting as an homage to the first game and embodying its stealth roots. As it turns out, this has worked well for Ubisoft. It’s the publisher’s biggest launch yet in unit sales for current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S).

takes plenty of inspiration from the earlier games of the franchise, but that doesn’t mean the series is entirely resting on its laurels. Some areas of the game try to evolve the experience in new ways from its original roots, taking a different direction than the trajectory of previous transformations. One aspect that sees some freshening up is the way that treats quests, and the changes in this particular regard are better than any that have come before, fixing some crucial problems that have long troubled the series.

Believe it or not, it was seven years before the Assassin’s Creed franchise added a proper crouch button. There were seven mainline entries into the stealth-action franchise before you could duck.  

Assassin's Creed Mirage is out tomorrow on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X. The game marks Ubisoft's return to the series' roots at the request of a sizable portion of the fanbase. Whereas Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla were more akin to open world action roleplaying games, this is meant to be a much smaller stealth-focused game.
