An inventive and skilled Pokemon fan and artist has taken to the internet to show off their collection of incredible and realistic Pokemon dolls. The sizable group of dolls — which the fan artist created themselves — utilize lifelike fur and hair as well as other materials, creating incredible results that are catching the eyes and attention of more than a few Pokemon fans.
The Pokemon fandom is undoubtedly one of the most artistically active fandoms of just about anything in major pop culture. Pokemon fans are constantly making headlines for their wildly imaginative art pieces through a vast array of mediums and styles. While a majority of fan-made Pokemon dolls have a tendency to be crocheted as of late, like one Pokemon fan's crocheted doll collection, this fan took quite a different approach.
The fan-made Pokemon dolls in question come from a Reddit user with the handle of umbratundra, who posted their impressive creations to one of the site's primary Pokemon pages. The artist shows off four Pokemon dolls in total, with the first being Gen 4 favorite Luxray, sporting amazingly accurate fur. The next slide is a doll of the ever-popular Eevee. A Pokemon fan artist favorite, Eevee's taken the form of everything from wood carvings to LEGOs, with the poseable doll being its latest rendition. The next Pokemon is Charmander, which cleverly uses fur to represent its flame tail.
The last slide reveals a doll of Mew, the iconic Gen 1 Mythical. The doll is the Shiny version of Mew, sporting a blue body instead of its usual pink coloring. Each of the dolls can certainly be considered an artistic feat, especially the Pokemon designs which have varied hair or fur length. However, the Pokemon fan artist had actually created a realistic Mew doll before, creating the standard pink version of Mew just a few months ago. The original Mew post also features a time-lapse of the artist's creation process, showing fans everything that goes into making one.
Plenty of Pokemon fans are impressed with the realistic doll collection, with the post receiving well over 1,500 upvotes at the time of writing within hours of being posted. While the four different types of Pokemon given the realistic doll treatment are certainly impressive, the Pokemon artist also made a doll of Ninetales, complete with another time-lapse video of its creation. Comments on the collection post above reveal umbratundra is already working on more dolls, and they do in fact sell them, for any interested Pokemon fans.
