Armored Core 6’s multiplayer has a feature Elden Ring sorely needs

After the trend of wristbands and watches in wearables, it seems that the trend of rings is all set to sweep over the wearables market. Now, Samsung appears poised to enter the ring with its own ring, that may well be dubbed as the Galaxy Ring - at the moment there does not appear to be any name attached to it.

The journey of the Lollipop Chainsaw remake has been weirdly vague so far. First, in June 2022 we were just told it was «back», without much indication what that meant; a month later we at least got confirmation it was a remake, not just a remaster, and with original producer Yoshimi Yasuda at the helm, but no actual title or platforms announced, and certainly no footage. Since then, it's been very quiet, despite a planned release this summer. 

There are few video game creatives as tireless in their pursuit of perfection as Kazunori Yamauchi. The head of the Polyphony Digital studio, and creator of Gran Turismo, is a motoring obsessive whose project for the last 25 years has been to build an interactive temple to cars and motorsport. He lives and breathes this quest. Between 2009 and 2016, he raced GT cars in 24-hour races, then gave the development team notes on exactly how it should look when the sun comes up over the Nordschleife Nürburgring.

When the next PlayStation 5 firmware update will be made available to the public, it will be possible to enjoy multiple already released games in Dolby Atmos, as recently confirmed by PlayStation Senior Sound Design Superior.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie may not have enjoyed the sort of widespread critical praise that HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us did, but it, too, has proven to be yet another success story for adaptations of gaming properties. In its recent quarterly fiscal report, Nintendo highlighted that success with some impressive new tidbits.

It’s hard to overestimate how strong a developer Treasure used to be, back when it was producing a few new games a year.  While there were a couple of misfires like Stretch Panic, Treasure put out one classic after another even if the sales were rarely there to reward the quality.  Sin & Punishment, Bangai-O, Guardian Heroes, Mischief Makers, Gunstar Heroes, Astro Boy: Omega Factor, and more were must-have games, but eventually the company wound down.  The only thing Treasure does nowadays is the occasional port of its back catalog to new platforms, which is a little disappointing but also exciting thanks to its rich gaming history.  The latest port was announced today and it’s one of the greatest games Treasure ever developed, Radiant Silvergun, coming to Steam.

A new month brings more new games to look forward to, and August is no different. A diverse lineup of games both big and small awaits us, covering a wide spectrum of genres. Kicking things off is a heavy hitter — Baldur's Gate 3, the much-awaited RPG from Larian Studios, which arrives August 3. You can expect the purest RPG experience from Baldur's Gate, one whose roots can be traced to tabletop RPGs of yore. Larian doesn't cut corners and its games offer a plethora of meaningful choices, character builds, and gameplay approaches.

Sony’s Japan Studio was a long-running developer that developed other developers.  Rather than a development studio in a traditional sense, it worked with smaller studios to bring games to whatever consoles Sony had available at the time.  It oversaw titles as diverse as Ape Escape and Elemental Gearbolt on the PS1, Ico and Flipnic on PS2, Afrika and Demon’s Souls on PS3, etc.  Basically it was all over the place, and while not everything it oversaw was a smash hit at the very least games with the Studio Japan logo were almost always interesting.  One of the series under its banner was Patapon, which covered three games between 2008 and 2011 on the PSP plus saw the first two games remastered for the PS4.

Armored Core fans are waiting on the next major installment to land in the marketplace. We’re not far from when the video game will be available. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon launches next month, and we recently had a gameplay showcase. Even some media outlets were given access to the title and offered some further insight into the game. But one area that was apparently kept off limits from sharing online has since leaked. New footage has emerged showcasing the PvP Arena. Here’s what we learned from the footage so far.

FromSoftware's eagerly-anticipated mech action game Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is out this time next month, but prospective pilots won't need to wait that long to get their next gameplay briefing. The cagey developer is teasing some fresh gameplay, and it's expected in the hours to come.

Armored Core has never been a particularly fashionable franchise, but FromSoftware has never been more popular either. The upcoming Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has commanded significant attention as a result – and, honestly, it looks outstanding in this 12-minute gameplay trailer. We get a glimpse of some combat, traversal, rig customisation, and a few boss fights in this sprawling showcase.
