Touchscreen has always been missing from Macs, while Apple’s competition has introduced rivaling products with this technology for years. One reason why the Cupertino giant has been hesitant to bring this feature to any Mac so far is it will likely harm iPad tablet sales.
If you have noticed, the company reports that its tablet shipments continue to decline every quarter. While this division keeps chugging along, bringing in billions in revenue, Apple probably wants to keep the ball rolling long-term. However, the latest report states that touchscreen support will debut on Macs in a few years, and that can change the future of the iPad forever.

OLED technology can first debut on Apple’s Macs first, followed by touchscreen support
While Apple does have plans to add touchscreen capabilities to its Macs, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman points out in the latest edition of his ‘Power On’ newsletter that this upgrade will take a few years to arrive. Instead, the company’s main goal is to bring more differentiation to various product categories, including the iPad and Mac.
Apple is not shy away from completely burying its products, especially when a more capable device ends up outshining it. This happened when the California-based firm discontinued its touchscreen iPod in 2022, and it has happened with others too. Gurman has reported that the Apple Vision Pro can replace the iPad, but that is only if it becomes a mainstream product, which can only happen if that ludicrous price comes down.
However, if touchscreen technology debuts on Macs, Apple will have to tweak macOS to adopt the new interface, along with keyboard and mouse support. The same feature on Windows can become a ‘less than stellar’ experience, as we have witnessed the operating system often glitching when changing the laptop’s orientation. In short, Apple may bring touchscreen capability to its Macs when it feels that the iPad is no longer adding any financial uplift to its quarterly earnings, but that might take a while.

Huawei’s resurgence is not the only element threatening Apple’s iPhone 16 lineup. With Apple Intelligence expected to arrive later this year as part of the technology giant’s plans to push its own version of generative AI, the Cupertino firm is banking on future partnerships with Chinese-based firms for potential deals to help bring its ambition to reality. The only problem with this move is that no progress has been made, at least according to the latest report.
The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy might be the long-awaited collaboration between Danganronpa's writer and Zero Escape's creator, but it was already canceled at one publisher, and the studio took out an incredibly risky loan to see it through.
The 11-inch and 13-inch M4 iPad Pro models are Apple’s thinnest devices to date, but the company has reportedly set in motion an ambitious plan for the future, where various products, such as the iPhone 17, will be substantially thinner than past releases. This design change is said to extend to the MacBook Pro lineup, with one analyst stating that Apple’s transition to OLED technology will help reduce the thickness of these portable Macs.
Complementing Emergency SOS via satellite, Apple officially announced ‘Messages via satellite’ yesterday during its WWDC 2024 keynote, with its singular focus allowing users to take advantage of the iMessage app to communicate with others by sending or receiving texts, emojis and more, even when there is no internet connection. The feature is expected to arrive for the iPhone 14 series when iOS 18 drops later this year. However, it should be noted that before Apple, Huawei had gone ahead and announced this feature when it introduced its flagship Mate 50 series.
Apple Inc. isn't typically the first to embrace new product categories — as it famously showed with its iPhone, smartwatch and Vision Pro. All those areas were established before the company showed up, but Apple found a way to make its mark.

A new Warbond is on the way to Helldivers 2, and it’s the first step in Arrowhead shaking up the game’s update schedule. The Viper Commandos Warbond is themed after jungle combat — camo prints, red berets, bare arms, throwing knives, skull masks, and everything else you can equip while CCR’s “Fortunate Son” blasts over a speaker nearby.
My Elden Ring DLC hands-on preview session was a three-hour sampling of what Shadow of the Erdtree's Land of Shadow has to offer, and one weapon was glued to my hands for most of it. It's called Milady, one of the new light greatswords in the DLC, and I'm betting my Runes right now that it ends up being one of the most popular weapons in the whole thing, potentially rivaling the famously comfy Bloodhound's Fang curved greatsword from the base game.
may have just received its best and worst news in years, following a comment made by series creator Neil Druckmann regarding the future of Naughty Dog. The first two games were critically acclaimed for their character development and storytelling and went on to win a plethora of awards, and it had always seemed inevitable that a third entry would eventually be made, although for a while Druckmann did state that it would come down to finding the right story and explained that Sony was happy for Naughty Dog to pursue other ideas.
