At its WWDC event, Apple announced its next big update for the iPhone, which is deeply integrated with the company's new AI features. The company announced on stage that Apple Intelligence requires at least an iPhone 15 Pro or models that will launch in the future, making iPhone 15 and older models a bit redundant in comparison.
It does not necessarily mean that older iPhone models will not be able to take advantage of the company's new AI utilities along with major feature upgrades for existing apps. In this regard, Apple officially lists the iPhone models, which will be compatible with the forthcoming iOS 18 update.
iOS 18 is undoubtedly a major upgrade, considering the scale of features it brings to the table, including Apple Intelligence. We have previously seen various rumors and leaks highlighting the iPhone's compatibility with iOS 18, but nothing beats Apple's words when it comes to confirmation. We have added the list of all iPhone models below, which will be compatible with Apple's upcoming iOS 18 update and its AI functionality:
Apart from AI features, Apple has redesigned the Photos app with a new look and upgraded features that will appeal to many users, considering how everything is organized. The company has also revamped the Control Center with new pages and more customization tools. Developers are also given the option to add their own toggles to the Control Center.
Visually, you can now place app icons anywhere on the Home Screen, something that previously was not possible. The app icons can also be tweaked to add colors or tie them to the device's light or dark theme. All of these features will be available on all iPhone models compatible with iOS 18.

Apple has gradually expanded its custom silicon to its entire Mac lineup, and the iPhone has mostly been the first device to boast new chip technology. The company has been developing 3nm chips for the iPhone and Mac for almost a year, and the competition seems to be just embarking on the technology, including Google and Samsung. Google will finally embrace TSMC for its Tensor G5 chips in 2025, which could mark the company's first silicon to be based on the supplier's 3nm process.
iOS 18 brought a slew of new visual changes for all compatible iPhones, but the platform has placed a limitation on Apple Intelligence, as it is exclusively available on the iPhone 15 Pro models. Apple Intelligence requires raw power to operate on-device generative AI large language models for better performance, and the A17 Pro chip in the iPhone 15 Pro is the perfect candidate to handle such tasks. Besides the iPhone, Apple's new AI utilities are also restricted to iPads and Macs with at least an M1 chip. Apple executives have now come forward, detailing why Apple Intelligence is available on Apple Silicon powered iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
Apple has been sued many times by big corporations and individuals, and most of the time, the claims are ridiculous enough to be discarded. This time around, an English businessman has taken the legal course of action after his deleted messages were found by his wife, which ultimately led to their divorce. The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, communicated using iMessage on his iPhone and deleted chats with a sex worker, but the messages were discovered by his wife on the family iMac.
There is very little in this world that would get between me and playing an RPG made by Final Fantasy dad Hironobu Sakaguchi, double for one with a soundtrack composed by Nobuo Uematsu. Unless, of course, that game was exclusive to Apple Arcade, which Fantasian has been since its 2021 release. I will not speak poorly of Apple, for I already have several other cults out for my blood. Instead, I’ll simply celebrate the fact that, as per Tuesday’s Nintendo DIrect, the game that Sakaguchi developed “thinking it could be [his] final game before retiring” is coming to PC later this year, in ‘Neo Dimension’ form. Have a trailer.

Apple's iOS 18 announcement gave us more than we asked for, and the company's approach toward the end-user has changed over the past few years. The company has set a limitation for its high-end Apple Intelligence features, requiring an iPhone 15 Pro that features an A17 Pro chip with a faster Neural Engine than its predecessors. Now that iOS 18 is out and about as a developer beta, it has been discovered that the Neural Engine in the iPhone 15 Pro Max is 25 percent faster than before.
