Apex Legends Season 21, Upheaval, starts today. This season's highlight is the addition of Alter to Apex Legends, a new villainous legend that uses void powers to assist allies and instill fear in enemies. According to the developers, Alter has been in development since last year.
To celebrate the addition of Alter, some legends and weapons will receive void-themed cosmetics, as seen in the trailer «Into the Void.» Premium Battle Pass holders will have the opportunity to acquire legendary skins for Alter, Wraith, Catalyst, Seer, and Revenant, as well as new weapon skins, such as the Reactive 30-30. The pass will also reward Exotic Shards and other Apex Legends currencies. The free Battle Pass will feature skin only for Valkyrie, 11 weapon skins, skydive emotes, and currency. On the other hand, all players will have the opportunity to acquire the void skin for Caustic through the season's Apex Packs.
The new Apex Legends season introduces the addition of customizable Artifacts, a mythic-tier heirloom melee weapon shared by all legends. To customize and evolve an artifact, players need to use Exotic Shards, a component that can be acquired directly from the store. Exotic Shards can also be collected at certain events, such as the 10 shards available through the Upheaval Battle Pass. Each customizable Artifact will have a different material and can be upgraded up to four times. Players who acquired the Cobalt Katar in the Shadow Society event will have a head start.
The Upheaval season of Apex Legends will bring back a Limited Time Mode long requested by fans. Solos is coming back, replacing the Duos mode from May 7th until June 24th. The returning LTM will have new features, such as Battle Sense to detect nearby enemies, the possibility of finding fully kitted weapons in crates, and also Second Chance, which allows a player to return to battle after being defeated. The Broken Moon map will also receive new POIs and will be floating between Cleo and Boreas in outer space. All these additions will be available in Apex Legends today when the 21st season of Upheaval begins.
