Elden Ring has been beaten in pretty much every way conceivable at this point, and when you think there isn't anyone else that could surprise you, someone goes and beats it with a violin. You'll struggle to find a challenge run as physically exhausting as Elden Ring fan GoodGameEthan's ongoing playthrough though, who has decided to beat all the game's main bosses while rolling in real life at the same time as their character.
GoodGameEthan's antics were noticed by the Elden Ring community at large earlier this week, after they posted a video of their fight against the Draconic Tree Sentinel on the game's subreddit. GoodGameEthan went on to share their YouTube channel, which includes a video of themselves taking down a number of fights, such as Margit, Godrick, and eventually the Draconic Tree Sentinel.
In the video, GoodGameEthan lays out the rules for their challenge run, which includes self-imposed bans on using Torrent, magic, summons, ranged attacks, parries and armor. Is it really an Elden Ring challenge run if the player in question isn't naked? Not in my book.
To attempt this ridiculous physical feat, GoodGameEthan appears to have cleared a space for themselves in their living room to roll unhindered. They begin by testing out their rolling abilities against the Tree Sentinel, only to get flattened like everyone else does at that point in the game. After determining the challenge is more than likely doable, they move onto Margit and Godrick, taking both out fairly easily thanks to some overleveling.
Unfortunately, buffing yourself up in Elden Ring only gets you so far, as GoodGameEthan found out when going up against the Draconic Tree Sentinel. It's definitely a tough watch, as GoodGameEthan is splattered over and over again, their shirt becoming darker and darker as they sweat more and more due to all the rolling. After half an hour, they were finally victorious, which resulted in an almighty yell and GoodGameEthan collapsing to the floor, presumably knackered.
As explained at the beginning of their video, GoodGameEthan is only doing this with the mainline bosses right now, but says that they'd more than happily play the entire game this way and stream it if that's what people want. I can only say my condolences to their spine when they come up against Malenia.
Unsurprisingly, this isn't actually the first time that GoodGameEthan has subjected themselves to a grueling video game-related challenge, as they recently attempted a permadeath playthrough of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, grinding in the game's first tutorial level every single skill for the best chance of survival. Unfortunately, they immediately failed their run by getting shot of a cliff.
