After leaving Starfield mid-development, Skyrim designer couldn't believe how well it ran at launch: "The Bethesda guys may not like me for saying this"

Universal Pictures‘ Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt-led action comedy has a new release date.

At this point, you know how important Starfield has become to both Bethesda and Xbox. No matter what you think of the game, it was the biggest title Bethesda ever launched regarding sales and easily the biggest success that Xbox has had in a while, if not ever. Bethesda worked for eight years to make the title and tried to make it something that would blow people’s minds. At first, that seemed to be the case, as it followed some of the “hallmarks” of past Bethesda titles while being set in a new galaxy. But as time went on, people started to “open their eyes” and see what it was and what it wasn’t.

PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted will air on Thursday, November 30 at 10 am PST (1 pm EST, 6 pm GMT, 7 pm CET) to reveal the 25 most exciting games in development on PC.

It was announced back in 2021 that TimeSplitters developer Free Radical Design had been re-established and that a revival of the sci-fi first person shooter IP had entered development, but it seems the project might be short-lived.

Annalynn is a retro-themed action game made in the style of the classic arcade. The player controls Annalynn on her quest to grab all the coins in each horizontally scrolling level. Opposing her is the Venom Brigade, a group of four snakes with different personalities who duck and ambush their way through the level using caves and ledges, as Annalynn jumps over her enemies and collects Blinding Rubies, stunning them and allowing her to kick them out of the level.

Stop for a second and picture your favorite video game developer or publisher. It doesn’t matter their “scale” as long as they’re prominent. He’s the guy who honestly makes the biggest announcements for the company and helps crank out their best games.

If Todd Howard up and left Bethesda, it would "leave a big hole," says Skyrim's lead designer, insisting that the Starfield director has "an attribute that none of the rest of us did."

At this point, it’s safe to say that people are ready for The Elder Scrolls 6. While we’re likely still years away from playing it, it feels as though Bethesda will start putting more stock into the Skyrim follow-up now that Starfield is out.
