Adventure game The Mermaid’s Tongue announced for consoles, PC

World of Warcraft revealed its roadmaps for both retail and Classic yesterday, and while there's plenty of exciting news—including a confirmed Summer release window for The War Within—one particular stop on the road hit me like a cannon full of grapeshot. A black flag with a skull and crossbones.

Games industry head honchos have all gotten into the same hobby recently: Refusing to say anything about the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake that got revealed at a PlayStation showcase all the way back in September 2021. It just seems that no one at any of the corporations supposedly involved—Sony, Disney, and Embracer Group—wants to talk about it ever since trouble cropped up at the remake's original developer Aspyr.

We could have got a large-scale Starfield co-op mod from the team behind Skyrim Together, but there’s just one issue: The modder who started work on the project thinks the space-faring RPG is “fucking trash.” 

No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games has announced Light No Fire, a game about adventure, building, survival, and exploration together in an open-world earth. It will be available for PC via Steam. A release date was not announced.

After many years of working on No Man’s Sky, Hello Games have announced their next title which they have been working on for the last five years and it is called Light No Fire.  The game is set on a fantastical planet around the same size Earth and is a sandbox game with “adventure, building, survival and exploration together”.

Saber Interactive has announced single-player action adventure game Jurassic Park: Survival for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. A release date was not announced.

During The Game Awards 2023, developer Archetype Entertainment has unveiled its first title, Exodus, through a trailer presented by award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey. The trailer, which you can check out below, shows off the game’s main story, as well as some gameplay.

YouTuber Trevor Jacob, a former Olympian and self-styled adventurer and entrepreneur, has been sent to jail for six months for deliberately crashing a plane in 2021, filming the whole thing for views, and putting the cherry on top by lying to US investigators about what happened. Even Jacob himself admitted after the sentence that this was the «right decision,» per the BBC.

Developer SFB Games is best known for its Detective Grimoire series of murder mystery adventure games, with Tangle Tower perhaps the biggest of those titles. Now, it's time to see what's next for the investigator and his assistant. Grimoire and Sally's next mystery is named The Mermaid's Tongue, and you can watch the reveal trailer above.

A currently unnamed studio that consists of creator Michael Nowak and collaborator Trent Garlipp (A Walk With Yiayia) has announced Vivarium, a hand-drawn story-driven adventure game inspired by Love-de-Lic cult classics Chulip and moon, as well as slice-of-life adventure games like Boku No Natsuyasumi, with visuals and audio inspired by 1974 to early 1980s anime and manga. Platforms and a release date were not announced.
