A most critical PlayStation console vulnerability was recently fixed, according to a new report shared online this week.
Aapo Oksman reported yesterday on X/Twitter that Sony recently closed a HackerOne bug bounty ticket they submitted to their program last year. This bounty is noteworthy for its value of $50,000, a value that is reserved only for the most critical console vulnerabilities.
As for what PlayStation system was affected by this critical, there's no way of knowing right now. Aapo Oksman is planning on releasing more information on the matter, so we will eventually learn what this vulnerability was, and which was the affected system.
On a related note, the PlayStation 5 hacking scene may be on the verge of some important developments, as Jose Coixao recently reported on X/Twitter to have obtained full access to the console's testkit features. The console was confirmed to have been jailbroken back in 2022, but nothing major has come from it so far, so any finding that is likely to be made with full access may lead to some important developments for the homebrew/hacking scene.
While not much has been achieved on the software side for now, the PlayStation 5 console hardware has been modified in impressive ways by users since its release in 2020.
