2024 is already haunted by a messed-up horror game masquerading as long lost Nintendo 64-style platformer

Through Feb. 8, Nintendo is cutting prices on Switch physical and digital games, many of which are must-play titles that belong in everyone’s collection. In case you missed out on Switch game deals close to Black Friday, this sale is a little different. It includes fewer first-party Nintendo games, but in some ways it’s actually more impressive, looping in a more diverse swath of games that Switch owners should nevertheless check out.

Every so often, a game comes along with an amazing elevator pitch but as soon as you jump into it, it becomes obvious why it’s a bad idea.

According to a new leak, classic PlayStation 4 exclusive horror game Until Dawn could be making its way to PC and PS5. Until Dawn was developed by Supermassive Games and first released in 2015. Mixing classic survival-horror gameplay with an interactive movie set-up, Until Dawn put a huge emphasis on player choice. Depending on one's actions, all the main characters could survive the ordeal, or they could get killed off in gruesome ways.

I wasn't as sold on Half Mermaid's Immortality as the internet at large, but I'll give Sam Barlow as much rope for his FMV games as anyone else. He recently Xeeted about the studio's upcoming projects C and D, described as "next level FMV, hold onto your seats", and "reinventing 3rd person horror again", respectively. The games now have heavily redacted Steam pages, and Barlow revealed a few more details on Kinda Funny Games (helpfully transcribed a bit by VGC if you can't be arsed watching).

Sam Barlow, known for his work on experimental video games like Her Story, Telling Lies, and more recently Immortality, has announced that he is working on two new games. Currently titled Project C and Project D, both games are going to be distinctly different from each other, with one title being similar to Barlow’s more recent work, while the other would be more reminiscent of older titles that Barlow has worked on like Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

Indie studio Clapperheads has announced its new horror game, Zoochosis. The self-published horror simulation game takes place in a zoo where the animals are afflicted by a mysterious ailment that transforms them into truly petrifying monsters. As the zookeeper, the player must protect the animals throughout the night with all the terrifying happenings captured on the player's bodycam.

Annabelle Creation’s David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) and Gary Dauberman reteam for an, adapting the PS4 horror game for the big screen.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is coming to the Nintendo Switch in the summer of 2024, Bandai Namco has revealed. This upcoming release is thus poised to add to the selection of compelling simulation games for the Switch.
