One of the most popular ways to play is the card-collecting Diamond Dynasty mode, which puts players in the driver's seat of crafting their dream baseball team from current and past athletes. By collecting cards, much like a traditional trading card game, people collect not only virtual cards but the ability to add that player to their team. For this year's version of the game, many changes have been made to the format based on feedback gained after played around with adding new features which were not quite polished but showed potential.
As one of the biggest selling points of, the Diamond Dynasty mode sees tweaks and changes each year as the developers try to improve upon it little by little. In last year's edition of the game, there were some big changes added, some of which worked and some didn't. This led to a lot of response from the community, which went into the revamped development of the Diamond Dynasty mode for, including keeping the idea of Seasons but in an entirely new way that focuses more on gradual progression.
While it can be exciting to get a 99 card, one of the biggest frustrations last year was that the thrill wore off quickly due to the sheer number of incredible 99 overall cards that were being pulled. Even worse, they were found at the beginning of 's seasons, so players ended up just using the same cards over and over.
This year, is spacing things out better, with no 99s at launch. The highest rated card for Season 1 will be a 91 OVR, and better cards will gradually show up while moving through the seasons. This change will help make 99s much more special, by making them more challenging to obtain. The gradual climb to better cards will also be better for encouraging continued play, always able to reach a little higher.
The Sets and Seasons format of is gone, particularly the aspect of the card sets system, which was not well received by many of the fans of the game last year. Aspects of the core concept of Sets and Seasons remain, however, and have been incorporated into other features. The new Diamond Dynasty seasons are changed to give a much more satisfying feel to players, with a consistent focus on overall gameplay.
While the card sets of last year's title were designed to expedite things in a way that players could feel powerful with impressive cards early on, it backfired in a way that it made people not as motivated to keep going. still has plenty of cards to obtain, but with a focus on slowly building up teams to help the fun last longer.
