Xbox Is Considering Bringing Gears Of War And The Next Doom To Other Consoles

A reliable Xbox insider has claimed that Gears of War, Flight Simulator, and the next Doom game to other platforms, although it seemingly hasn't made a decision about them just yet.
It's been a pretty rough couple of weeks for some Xbox fans thanks to rumours going wild that every exclusive from Hi-Fi Rush to Starfield was going to be made multiplatform and come to consoles like the PS5 and Switch. As it turns out, a lot of those rumours weren't quite on the mark, as Phil Spencer confirmed yesterday in a "business update" episode of the Xbox Podcast that only four games are being ported right now.
We don't officially know what those games are going to be just yet as Spencer refused to reveal them right now, but it's been reported by The Verge and other sources that they are Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded. Those are the only confirmed ones right now, but it seems that Xbox is at least thinking about other titles being put on other platforms.
In the same article from The Verge that seemingly revealed the four games that are leaving Xbox exclusivity in the future, it is also reported that Microsoft was previously considering bringing Gears of War, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and the next Doom game (which has yet to be announced) to other platforms.
Although that might make some non-Xbox fans pretty excited (especially when it comes to Gears of War) it seems that a final decision hasn't been made about these other games just yet. The Verge does note that even if those games don't come to other consoles, there are "bound" to be more than the four that have currently been revealed. Or, not revealed, as it were.
Spencer also confirmed that Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle aren't part of the four games coming to other platforms , but also refused to confirm that they'll never come to non-Xbox consoles.
If Gears of War, which is one of the biggest Xbox exclusives, does end up coming to PlayStation and Nintendo's next console, it does raise some interesting questions about how far the multiplatform releases are going to go. While the four rumoured games all make a lot of sense to come to other platforms, bringing Gears over is a bit more of a surprise and suggests that almost anything is on the table.
