Xbox announces Indie Selects program

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is now available on Xbox Game Pass. This arrival brings the number of February 2024 additions to Xbox Game Pass up to six, with several more titles already being confirmed to be launching on the service before the end of the month.

Publisher Idea Factory International has delayed the Xbox Series and Xbox One versions of Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters from its previously planned April 16 release date to May 21.

The Xbox Game Pass catalog is about to expand to include the Resident Evil 3 remake. Apart from adding to the selection of acclaimed survival horror games on the platform, this arrival also marks the third AAA game to reach Xbox Game Pass in February 2024.

Microsoft has announced a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast for February 15th, noon PT. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, president Sarah Bond and Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty will be present and provide “updates on the Xbox business.” Last week, Spencer said this would be a business update event to discuss the company’s “vision for Xbox’s future.”

Turbo Golf Racing will leave Early Access and launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store in Q2 2024, publisher Secret Mode and developer Hugecalf Studios announced. The PlayStation 5 version is newly announced.

A recent Take-Two Interactive earnings report has claimed that Sony's PS5 has outsold Microsoft's Xbox Series consoles by an almost two-to-one margin going into 2024. The PS5's success has been no secret after it recently hit a major sales milestone.

When Microsoft entered the gaming console wars in the early 2000s, many people questioned whether the American-born company could draw in players to its system: the Xbox. After all, Sony and Nintendo had experience under their belts, and Sony was busting out the PS2, which would eventually become the best-selling video game system ever. Nintendo was still cranking out incredible 1st and 3rd party titles, which wouldn’t end by any stretch. So, could Microsoft stand on its own two feet and make an impact? The answer was “yes,” but not in the overarching way. After all, they’ve had plenty of bumps along the road.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers have yet another day one game to look forward to, as the upcoming Botany Manor has been confirmed for release on April 9. Botany Manor was first confirmed for Xbox Game Pass last December, with a handful of other 2024 Game Pass titles confirmed on the same day.

Publisher Whitethorn Games and developer Pancake Games have announced action adventure game Slime Heroes for Xbox Series and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).

State of Play rumors continue to surge, with Xbox Era co-founder Nick Baker and insider NateTheHate2 teasing its arrival on January 31st/February 1st. The former also somewhat cryptically named the potential games appearing, including Silent Hill 2, Until Dawn, Death Stranding 2, Rise of the Ronin and more. The next Metro title, rumored to be a VR title called Metro Awakening, could also appear.

The January 25 Xbox Game Pass update is adding a new day-one title in the form of Go Mecha Ball. This hectic indie release promises to add to the already sizable collection of high-quality roguelike games on Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox has announced the launch of an entirely new program, designed to bring attention to indie games on its storefront. As announced in an Xbox Wire post, the program called 'Indie Selects' will change its displayed games to keep a consistent rotation of some of the best indie games available, so you'll never be short of new adventures.
