Xbox: AI's influence and future are unwritten

Microsoft might bring an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot to its Xbox platform, as per a report. The tech giant is said to be working on developing a tool that can help in automating support tasks for the company. The reported development aligns with the company's recent strides in creating deeper integration of AI into its products. Notably, Microsoft recently unveiled its first-ever AI PCs with the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6, which feature a dedicated Copilot key for easy access to the tool.

Fisher Price has been shrinking characters from popular culture down to size for its Little People Collector's Sets for years. The residents of Halloween Town and the cast of Stranger Things are just two examples of characters who have their very own sets. Now Master Chief and a few other famous faces from Halo will be joining them as a Little People set based on Xbox's flagship series has been revealed and will launch this summer.

An Xbox 360 fan acquired a classic version of the popular console, but accidentally updated it, erasing the Blades dashboard in the process. When the Xbox 360 first launched, it did so with the Blades dashboard, a unique set-up that many remember fondly. There have been calls for Xbox to bring back the Blades dashboard in some capacity, but nothing to that effect has actually been announced at the time of this writing.

Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League got a shot in the arm Thursday with the release of its first season, which notably brings the Joker back to the franchise’s Arkhamverse. Joker is a newly playable character, plucked from an alternate-reality Elseworld, who joins the Suicide Squad on their mission to kill a bunch of alternate-reality Braniacs.

Google's Circle to Search feature arrived earlier this year with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, then eventually rolled out for all Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 models. As promised, the fancy AI tool will start rolling out to more Pixel phones, tablets, and Galaxy phones later this week.

Rumor has it that Sony and Marvel Studios have almost reached an agreement on Spider-Man 4. Unfortunately, there are still disagreements between the two studios. Sony seems to want a dramatically larger scope of movie than what Marvel and Kevin Feige desire for the fourth installment in the Tom Holland-led superhero franchise.

It's GDC week, and conversations are being had about AI. Ubisoft have blundered into this, in classic Ubi style, by revealing that they've had an R&D team beavering away on a project called NEO NPC. It's the usual pitch. "Have you ever dreamed of having a real conversation with an NPC in a video game?", asks Ubi's official post about it. And what all people who make this fail to understand that the answer most normal people give if they think about it is "Erm, probably no, actually?"
