World of Warcraft January Trading Post Offers a Bright Accompaniment to Seeds of Renewal

New World’s latest update says goodbye to Winter Convergence for now, opens the Legacy of Crassus event, adds new shop skins, and makes some combat tweaks. The team is also talking their favorite characters in Aeternum in a new dev chat.

On January 18th, the Xbox Developer Direct will offer updates on games from some of the studios the behemoth have swallowed over the past several years. Most excitingly, that'll include an update from MachineGames on their in-development Indiana Jones game.

New World brings backthe Legacy of Crassus event this week, and the team has a new preview of all the new and returning rewards for the world event.

Since Warcraft III: Reforged was announced, fans of the RTS series have dreamed of all the new new mod possibilities using the upgraded engine. A new easter egg with the Arsenal: Cosmic Weapons Cache rewards from the November/23 Trading Post has been discovered! Thanks to Twitter user Korrin for the tip. The Twilight Hermit is a NPC that was originally added to the game in Battle for Azeroth. The Hermit was already shrouded in mystery back then, as he was the person you would bring the Wriggling Mass you collected during your Island Expeditions. In the quest Wriggling Mass, you would learn that holding the mass would plague you with visions, and by turning it in to the Hermit, you would learn he used to be plagued by the same visions — until the day Sargeras struck Silithus.

Blizzard has clarified that the extra 500 Traders Tender received by players this month is an intended but unlisted reward from the Trading Post Enthusiast achievement for completing the monthly trading post bonus twelve times.

EU players are reportedly receiving an extra 500 Tendies from their January Trading Post rewards. That means 1500 for January instead of the regular 1000 possible for the month. We don't know yet if this is a bug or intended, but hopefully, it is intended, as the trading post sports many expensive items this month, including Armored Golden Pterrordax, Copper Resonating Crystal, and Time-Lost Salamanther. January Trading Post is already live for EU players. NA players need to wait until 7 am Pacific Time to start the January activities.

During the December 2023 Forged in Aeternum Balance of Power community Q&A, the developers of New World teased “a lot” of new content that could be coming in 2024.

The latest Q&A video —  the last of 2023 — for New World dropped on Christmas. Despite the festive outfits of two-thirds of the developers on camera, the Amazon Games team addressed some pretty hard-hitting questions that have circulated since its 2024 roadmap was revealed.

On November 10, Humane, a 2018-founded startup known for working with AI technology, unveiled its first product called Ai Pin, a clothing-based wearable gadget. The OpenAI CEO Sam Altman-backed company presented the device as a new technology that does not require a user to spend time interacting with it and instead gets the information needed quickly so they can focus on the moment. With a displayless design, which goes against the ethos of most consumer tech products, the company focuses on voice and laser ink technology to show and tell the information through an AI chatbot. The company has now revealed that the product will be shipped to consumers starting in March 2024.

The New World team is,once again, discussing their methods of storytelling, with a highlight on music and sounds. In prior videos, they’ve touched on the subject, particularly with Brimstone Sands, but now, after four seasonal releases and the first expansion, Rise of the Angry Earth, there’s a lot more to talk about.
