Though Season of Discovery Phase 3 in World of Warcraft Classic is not scheduled to launch until April 4, some players pointed out that one of the update's main features, dual talent specialization, was secretly added early into the game. But at the time of writing, the new World of Warcraft Classic feature is reportedly buggy, so players may want to hold off on unlocking dual-spec until Phase 3 is released.
Originally released during the Wrath of the Lich King patch cycle, the dual talent specialization feature allows players to switch freely between two different talent tree builds at any time when out of combat. The feature allows classes that can play multiple roles, such as the Druid and the Paladin, to freely swap between specializations and roles thanks to the ability to pick the appropriate talents and swap between them. When it was released in World of Warcraft, the dual talent specialization feature was unlocked by speaking to a class trainer in a capital city and paying a one-time fee of 1,000 Gold per character. The cost was then cut down to just 10 Gold in Cataclysm.
More World of Warcraft Classic players will soon be able to unlock the new feature, but some reportedly unlocked it early. A post on the r/wow subreddit by Reddit user Arnhermland claimed the dual-spec NPC arrived two days ahead of Season of Discovery's Phase 3 launch. The NPC in question, Grendag Brightbeard, was sighted in Booty Bay on April 2. Although the NPC was reportedly added to Season of Discovery ahead of Phase 3's launch on April 4, other World of Warcraft players pointed out that the feature was buggy, with some claiming that paying 50 Gold did not unlock the system for them, rendering their hard-earned gold lost.
Although a few WoW players claimed to unlock the dual talent specialization successfully, others stated they would wait until Season of Discovery Phase 3 goes live and for Blizzard to patch any reported associated bugs. Phase 3 will add more than just the dual talent specialization to World of Warcraft Classic. The Sunken Temple will be added as a level 50 raid in the Swamp of Sorrows. Phase 3 will also bring new Runes that will bolster the capabilities of each class.
Blizzard confirmed that any saved Runes will also work alongside the dual talent specialization, meaning players will have more options to consider for their builds. Between that and the ongoing Plunderstorm event, World of Warcraft players will have more content waiting for them in April.
