The latest issue of V-Jump has confirmed that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will feature Beerus, Whis, Gohan, Future Gohan, and Videl as playable characters.
Although we had to suffer through a year of silence after the fourth Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi game was first confirmed at the start of 2023, news about the game has been a lot more consistent since then. We've had new trailers and reveals pretty much every month since it re-emerged as Sparking Zero at The Game Awards, and it looks like that trend will continue this month.
Just a few days ago, several images were leaked by Bandai Namco that revealed Kid Gohan, and Dragon Ball Z versions of Piccolo and Master Roshi were coming to Sparking Zero, suggesting that the theme of the next trailer would be masters and their pupils. The latest issue of V-Jump has not only confirmed that theory, but also revealed a bunch of new fighters on the roster.
As showcased by Twitter user SLOplays, the latest issue of V-Jump released just a few days ago in Japan and showcased some highly-requested characters that are playable in Sparking Zero. Let's start off with two characters who are making their Budokai Tenkaichi debut with Sparking Zero - Beerus and Whis, who were both confirmed in the V-Jump issue.
Since Sparking Zero is the first entry in the series in over a decade, this is the first time that Beerus and Whis will be playable in a Budokai Tenkaichi game, which makes them a very exciting addition. They weren't the only characters confirmed, however, as the spread also showed adult (well, young adult) Gohan and Videl, who have been in previous BT games but are still a necessary inclusion.
The V-Jump issue also had a few more interesting reveals, including Trunks (Sword) and Future Gohan, two fighters who were a little more uncertain about making it into the base roster. Future Gohan is always up in the air since he comes from a timeline we don't see in the anime that much, while Trunks (Sword) was thought to be replaced by the Super version of the character.
Interestingly, Future Gohan is also shown here with one of his arms missing, which is canon to his character but often left out of Dragon Ball games (Xenoverse 2 for example) due to the impact it would have on the game's rating.
One character who seems to have accidentally been revealed in the issue is the Dragon Ball Z version of Android 17, who can just about be spotted in the screenshot of Trunks (Sword) in action. It makes sense he'd be in the game considering how important he is, but he's another fighter that could have been replaced by the Super variant.
Just like when the last batch of characters was revealed in a V-Jump issue, it seems that we'll soon be getting a trailer that
