After a busy week full of exciting work courses and trips to the cinema, it’s going to be time to sit back and relax this weekend. However, we’ve still managed to sneak in a whole heap of gaming as well. I’ve been playing through Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin and really enjoyed it, particularly the terrifying Nighthaunt, as well as cleaning things in Powerwash Simulator VR and bounding across rooftops in Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR.
Nick P has mostly been continuing his run of Final Fantasy 16, saying, “Great game overall but the side quests are a little on the monotonous side. As per usual, general smatterings of Street Fighter 6, Dead by Daylight and FC 24 also happened.”
Ade polished off Asterix and Obelix: Slap Them All! 2 for review. Also, he and his partner thoroughly enjoy teaming up to puzzle through The Talos Principle 2. When he wasn’t doing that he got a copy of Spider-Man 2 for his birthday – Happy Birthday!! – he told us, “What a game! It’s everything I ever wanted from the sequel! Outstanding.”
Jason has mostly been playing Backpack Hero. Read the review for his thoughts, but it continues to be a lot of fun.
Gamoc played Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 for review, as well as Trepang2 which he forgot about. Other than that, he’s right at the end of Baldurs Gate 3 (literally halfway through the final battle), he completed Spidey 2, and even played a little Beat Saber.
Nic B played Persona 5 Tactica “which is a good little game. Starts getting a bit repetitive towards the end, but if you like tactical games with a Persona flair, this is well worth a play!” He also found time for Monster Hunter Now and Pokémon Go.
Aran played SteamWorld Build. That’s all we can say. Meanwhile, Steve played handful of smaller games for review which included the “fun if unexpected crafting game spinoff from the solid Earthlock JRPG.” He’s also been making decent progress through Like A Dragon: Ishin but keeps on getting distracted by side quests and general tomfoolery.
And finally, Tef has also been sampling the various modes within Modern Warfare 3, but it’s not really grabbing him this year. Alongside that, he returned to C-Smash VRS to finally finish off a long-overdue review of the Dreamcast revival arcade sports game, and has made a little start on American Arcadia.
What about you, what have you played?

The GTA 6 trailer has arrived, providing our first tease of the GTA 6 release date and our first glimpse of the GTA 6 map, and it also featured a great song!
The GTA 6 trailer is here, and it's underscored by Tom Petty's 1989 anthem Love is a Long Road - so what does that let us glean about what to expect from Rockstar's new game?
A little over a week ago, an AMD patent titled Distributed Geometry was published by the US Patent Office, the patent itself was filed by AMD in April this year. The patent details a fully chiplet approach to GPUs, where the rendering workload is distributed across a collection of chips, rather than having one massive die handling all of the processing. There's no indication that we'll see this employed in a Radeon graphics card any time soon, of course, but it's the natural evolution of what we've already seen in RDNA 3.
Over the years, Call of Duty campaigns have delivered the closest distillation of Michael Bay-style cinematic set piece action in video games. The first-person military shooter franchise, perhaps the most popular series of games in the world, has increasingly tilted in favour of its money-spinning multiplayer modes, with gradual introduction of battle passes, microtransactions, and downloadable content, but some of its single player campaigns remain a benchmark for bombastic sequences in the medium. Memorable missions from Call of Duty titles are part of gaming folklore — the raw shock of a nuclear detonation, the tense deliberations of a ghillied-up sniper, and the disturbing implications of a false flag terror attack; CoD campaigns have sustained their commitment to over-the-top, knockout moments with imaginative mission design, the “Oorah” machismo of American military might, and immersive cinematics that punctuate the action.
Charlie Munger, the billionaire investor and the vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, has passed away at the age of 99. He would have turned 100 on the new year's day. Munger was highly regarded for his brilliant wit and analysis and was the man behind building up the Warren Buffett-led investment firm to its present gargantuan status. His insights and vision in the technology sector led to the company making pin-pointed investments that paid large dividends. Even though Berkshire came very late to the Apple party, one of the biggest tech firms he bet on was the Cupertino-based tech giant and throughout Munger constantly highlighted how good an investment it was. In fact, it is also the company's biggest investment with 859 million shares purchased worth 148 billion dollars. Let us take a look at the things Munger said about Apple that highlight his admiration for the iPhone makers.
Tumblr underwent a redesign in July 2023 when the platform announced it would improve its content discovery as well as ease the process of creating a page. The company claimed the changes were implemented based on user feedback. Now, taking another step in its feedback-focused process, it will also be removing the Tumblr Post Plus subscriptions. It allowed creators to share content behind a paywall for those subscribers who paid for the subscription. The company has said that it will be removed starting January 2024.
I kind of miss the days where Black Friday was just one day of over-the-top sales and discounts. Back in the early 2010s, the US shopping bonanza was just finding its way across the pond and that’s pretty much all it was. Then we had Cyber Monday tacked onto the end, and then shops started their sales a week or two before the day, and now, as we sit through actual Black Friday, there’s just not much excitement to see what’s on offer… because it’s all been on sale for the last week.
Halo Infinite saw is fair share of post-launch struggles, thanks to less-than-satisfactory support from developer 343 Industries, but of late, the tide seems to be turning for the first person shooter. Season 5 of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer post-launch content launched in October, and its meaty additions to the game have brought about an increase in its player numbers.

Thanksgiving in the United States comes with a number of traditional televised events, but maybe none as seamless and low-key entertaining as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
