We’re already halfway through August! How did that happen? What that means in terms of the gaming world is that it means Gamescom in Cologne is next week, and we’ll be at the conference to bring you coverage of as many games as possible (we’re seeing about 50 between us!). In the meantime I’ve been playing a lot of American football as the preseason of the NFL has started. That’s been lots of Legend Bowl, and then a heap of Madden 24 in the last two days. We’re not quite ready to put a score on it, but we’re impressed so far. Besides that I’m trying to get through Baldur’s Gate 3, and it is overwhelmingly big. It’s wonderful too.
Tuffcub has been playing Destiny 2, because of course he has, while Aran has been playing a bit more of XIII “which is okay”. He’s also playing Immortals of Aveum for our review.
Nick P has continued his rank climb in Street Fighter 6, dodged killers in Dead by Daylight, explored abandoned stations in Fort Solis (for review) and pre-installed the Mortal Kombat 1 beta for tomorrow!
Nic B had a big week as he got married! Congratualtions Mr and Mrs Bunce! He tells us, “Now that my wedding is done and dusted (Achievement Unlocked, was rewarded with a cool cosmetic, a ring for my character), I’m back to reviewing games. That’s all I can say about [embargoed] for now”

He says, “I’ve spent 20 hours with the wonderful Blasphemous 2 – an indie title that deserves to take your gaming time away from the AAA behemoths that keep on coming this year. I’ve had a few games of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which is a solid Dead by Daylight style multiplayer affair that absolutely nails the tone and atmosphere of the original film, but matchmaking is a bit tricky fitting around work and family commitments prerelease. The review will probably appear next week once the community beds down a little. Finally I’ve been somewhat foolish in balancing two Metroidvanias – with the aforementioned Blasphemous 2 and the solid F.I.S.T. Some of the furry designs are a little questionable but the mechanics of exploration and combat are excellent. Getting to the end stages so will have to find another title for my Daily Achievements. Might go for A Short Hike for a total change of pace.”
Jim has sliced his way through Trek to Yomi “which was a short, atmospheric adventure even if the combat did get a little repetitive in those later stages. I’m enjoying this steady trickle of smaller titles being introduced monthly by PlayStation Plus with Death’s Door being next on my to-play list. I’ve also been battling through
