Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II ‘Multiplayer Modes’ reveal trailer, screenshots

Sumo Group, the British video game collective which owns developers Sumo Digital, publishers Secret Mode and more - including Everybody's Gone to the Rapture devs The Chinese Room - is laying off hundreds of staff, cutting 15% of their workforce “to better navigate the upcoming challenges expected in the coming months”.

As promised, BioWare has unveiled 20 minutes of gameplay from Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Showcasing what looks to be the game's opening act, it's a linear sequence that's been edited down to avoid story spoilers.

The official Dragon Age: The Veilguard reveal trailer was shared today, providing the first proper look at the new entry in the series launching later this year on PC and consoles.

Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive dropped a new trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 during Summer Game Fest. It’s a quick montage of everything fans can expect, from the action-packed campaign to co-op and PvP. The most noteworthy part is that a new overview trailer will drop on June 20th at 9 AM PDT.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Home Entertainment have released a new trailer for this year’s Warhammer Skulls Festival. The trailer showcases the game’s co-op and player-vs-player multiplayer modes.

Confirmed earlier this week, upcoming action-shooter Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 will feature two dedicated multiplayer modes on top of its single-player (or co-op, if you like) campaign. It'll feature both PvE and PvP offerings, which sounds great in terms of value, but the reveal had some players wondering about in-game purchases — or microtransactions. After all, you'd be incredibly hard pressed to find a 'live' game that doesn't have some form of immediate monetisation these days.

Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 was arguably the star of the recent Warhammer Skulls 2024 live stream. The long-awaited sequel showed off the multiplayer modes available in the final release: the PvE Operations mode, which runs parallel to the co-op enabled campaign, where you'll play as your own customized Space Marine and work as a team to defeat various Xeno abominations; and the PvP Eternal War mode, where Chaos and Empire will once again clash with chainswords in intense 6v6 multiplayer battles.

PvP multiplayer will return in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 in addition to a brand-new co-op mode.

Secretlab has announced its first collaboration with Warhammer 40,000 producer Games Workshop with a special edition gaming chair.

Developer Auroch Digital and publisher Focus Entertainment have announced a DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. Titled Forges of Corruption, the DLC will be coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on June 18. Check out the reveal trailer below.

In addition to its campaign, which can be played both solo and co-op, the upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is also going to have a couple of additional multiplayer modes on offer in the form of the recently unveiled PvP mode Eternal War and PvE mode Operations– and regardless of which mode you find yourself in, you can rest assured that you won’t have to deal with any microtransactions.
