War Thunder’s Kings of Battle update is here, with new vehicles, new game mechanics, and a brand new map.
The update features several vehicles, including the US MH-60L Black Hawk helicopter added to the research tree, the Soviet missile tank “Objekt 775”, Italy’s AH-129D helicopter, and more.
All 10 nations get a brand new ground vehicle in the update. There are three brand new jets, including the US F-111A Aardvark. Germany gets the MiG-29G. China gets the JH-7A fighter-bomber.
Those preferring to take their battle to the seas aren't left out, with a number of new ships. France gets La Combattante, SMS Sachsen for Germany, and the Soviet Opytny among them. There are two premium batteships in this huge update for Japan and Britain too.
For War Thunder, adding all these detailed, historically-inspired vehicles is no surprise, so there are many more to add to your collection via gameplay or purchase this round.
Kings of Battle also offers a new map, Flanders, emphasizing ground combat. This map follows the new format that allows for changing details depending on what vehicles you’re using. “If you’re using WWII vehicles, you’ll see a fallen airship and other older buildings. If you’re using more modern vehicles, you’ll instead see a fallen modern troop transport aircraft and tourist center buildings”.
Speaking of new mechanics, the team has adjusted APFSDS and APDS shells, where casings separate out and can travel up to 1km when they do. There are also new modes for IR missiles and armor-piercing bombs added to some WWII aircraft.
