Versus Evil shutdown: Drop Bear Bytes still planning to release Broken Roads

In today's announcements at CES 2024 here in Las Vegas,Nvidia officially unveiled its RTX 40 Super Series line up of GPUs, with the 4070, 4070 Ti, and the 4080 getting the treatment. All three GPUs are set to launch this month.

Sony has announced the free games coming to PlayStation Plus Essential in January 2024. Starting January 2nd till February 5th, Essential, Extra and Premium subscribers can claim A Plague Tale: Requiem on PS5 and Nobody Saves the World and Evil West on PS4 and PS5.

PlayStation Plus' monthly free games for January 2024 — the new year — have been revealed. The month's offerings include narrative-focused period adventure title A Plague Tale: Requiem, top-down dungeon-crawling action RPG Nobody Saves the World, and third-person vampire-hunting shooterEvil West. The three titles will be available to members of PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Deluxe/ Premium plans, starting January 2. These games can be added to your PS4 and PS5 games library until February 5, after which you'll have to hold on to your PS Plus membership for continued access. If you enjoy any of these titles, you could purchase them for permanent access and continue from where you left off.

Today, Sony announced the PlayStation Plus games lineup for January 2024. Subscribers across all of the tiers (Premium, Extra, and Essential) will be able to add a trio of great games to their libraries, including Asobo Studio's A Plague Tale: Requiem, Flying Wild Hog's Evil West, and Drinbox Studios's Nobody Saves the World.

January’s titles of A Plague Tale: Requiem, Evil West and Nobody Saves the World will be available to PlayStation Plus members on Tuesday, January 2 until Monday, February 5. Let’s take a closer look at each game. 

Versus Evil, the publisher behind The Banner Saga and Pillars Of Eternity 2, among others, has been closed down and its entire staff laid off. Versus Evil were bought by tinyBuild in November 2021.

The sudden closure of Versus Evil on Friday has had an immediate impact on the industry. The first impact was the loss of jobs for many, who would not have expected this just a few days before Christmas. The next impact was the closure of Jukai Studio, developer of Stray Souls. Versus Evil had published that game earlier this year. Jukai Studio is not the only developer that is having to rethink plans, as other games were set to be published by Versus Evil.

Following on from last night’s news that indie publisher Versus Evil had closed down with immediate effect, leading to job losses for staff, additional impact is being felt elsewhere. Jukai Studios, the development studio behind Stray Souls which was published by Versus Evil, has announced that it too will be closing its doors. Jukai Studios consisted of two developers who have decided to go their separate ways. The full statement can be read below.
