Valve launches SteamVR 2.0 beta with 'goal of bringing all of what's new on the Steam platform into VR'

EA’s Battlefield 2042 was heavily ridiculed at launch in 2021 for server errors, changes to how the squad system worked, and countless bugs. The multiplayer FPS even has the lowest average rating of the whole Battlefield series, but the last couple of years have seen developer DICE turn it around. Now between changes, new content, a free Steam weekend, and a sale, Battlefield 2042 is the most popular it’s been since launch.

The edge of the network isn’t always where you find the most powerful computers. But it is the place where you can find the most ubiquitous technology.

It had to happen at some point but Valve's much-loved Steam Deck has been falling down its weekly revenue charts for a little while now. For the past two weeks, though, it's dropped outside of the top ten, suggesting that competition from ASUS, Ayaneo, OneXPlayer, and Aokzoe has taken a sizeable slice of the handheld PC market.

World of Warships   is celebrating Halloween and collaborating with fantasy strategy title Heroes of Might and Magic III. Expect six  new themed commanders with voiceovers, a special map, and a special DLC bundle. Aside from the collaboration, the Halloween themed update introduces an updated operation, several new Japanese battleships, and much more on the way.

Give me an elegant roguelike with an interesting premise and I’ll go missing for days, repeating runs ad infinitum. The upcoming Cobalt Core almost had me under that trance with its interstellar take on Slay The Spire’s deck-building, but the Steam Next Fest demo ended just before I got trapped in its moreish loop.

Assassin's Creed Mirage hit PlayStation, Xbox, and PC last week and both critics and fans alike are quite happy with the series return to its roots. Unlike Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, in which Basim is featured, Mirage is a smaller, more condensed adventure, unlike the prior open-world RPGs. Now, roughly a week later, Ubisoft has revealed that Mirage's player count is in line with Origins and Odyssey. Plus, Mirage is Ubisoft's biggest new-gen launch in terms of sales. 

The spooky season will soon be upon us, and Rockstar is celebrating with Halloween-themed content for Red Dead Online, but it's far from a treat for long-time players.

Go Mecha Ball is by far the coolest Steam Next Fest demo I’ve played so far, and I can’t recommend it enough. A top-down, twin-stick shooter where you can turn into a giant mecha wrecking ball that bounces around the tight playspaces while shooting at enemies, Go Mecha Ball is a fast-paced roguelike that genuinely had me upset when I got to the end of the demo. It’s a little bit Super Monkey Ball and has the bright bouncy play of something like Rocket League, it’s great.

A bakery in the States has used its artisanal skills to create a The Last of Us Clicker out of bread.

New World's first expansion arrived yesterday, and along with the addition of flails, the ability to turn into some kind of vengeful nature monster, a transformed zone and another expedition, it also solves one of my big launch bugbears: it's finally added mounts. 

As longtime Sims fans know, in-game glitches are like hydras. For every one fixed by a new update, three more emerge. They range from the hilariously bizarre to the downright infuriating, and fans have created a host of mods to help remedy the trickier ones.

A new game set in The Elder Scrolls franchise is now available for Android devices through the Google Play Store. It’s called The Elder Scrolls: Castles, and it looks a lot like another Bethesda Game Studios game, Fallout Shelter, but set in the medieval fantasy world of Nirn.
