An unofficial Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC port derived from materials leaked in the recent Insomniac data breach is being scrapped. After two years of hype and eager anticipation, Spider-Man 2 finally launched on the PlayStation 5 to rave reviews in October. While it didn’t take home any honors at The Game Awards 2023, Spider-Man 2 was still well-regarded for updating the open-world gameplay formula of its predecessors and quickly became one of Insomniac’s highest-selling video games.
Unfortunately for the acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ratchet and Clank developer, Insomniac would fall victim to a massive cyberattack in December that resulted in a large amount of data being leaked to the public. This includes many of Insomniac’s plans for future Marvel titles like a Venom-centric spin-off and an X-Men game, along with plenty of details surrounding the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine’s story, gameplay, and voice cast. Not too long after the leak, a playable PC build of Wolverine started circulating online, causing internet service providers to begin issuing DMCA notices to those who illegally downloaded it.
Various individuals have attempted to get a similar PC build for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 working using materials pulled from the Insomniac data breach, as reported by Comicbook.com. However, many of the people involved have started to withdraw from the unauthorized project after traces of it were leaked online and subsequently taken down by Sony. Twitter user The Red Dragon has been keeping tabs on the situation, sharing captured screenshots of these individuals announcing that they were no longer working on the unofficial Spider-Man 2 PC port before later being banned from Discord.
As a result of this, it seems very unlikely that the unauthorized Spider-Man 2 PC build will ever see the light of day — but this doesn’t mean that PC owners won’t get to play the game in a more legal capacity down the road. Insomniac released PC ports of both Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales in 2022, about a year before Spider-Man’s PS5-exclusive launch. This is part of a larger initiative from Sony to bring first-party PlayStation games to PC, with titles like Horizon: Zero Dawn and the 2018 God of War reboot being ported years after their original PS console releases.
If this pattern holds true for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac will likely release an official PC version of the game at some point. In the meantime, it appears that Sony and Insomniac are taking measures to prevent its leaked content from spreading across the internet, including the materials used to build an unauthorized PC build of its latest superhero title that probably won’t be completed at this point. This is likely for the

Some eagle-eyed fans think they saw Tommy Vercetti’s island mansion in the Grand Theft Auto 6 reveal trailer. Even before Rockstar officially gave players a look at Grand Theft Auto 6, there were many rumors that the next entry in the infamous open-world crime series would return to Vice City, which serves as the GTA universe’s version of Miami. Grand Theft Auto 6 will take players to Leonida, the Florida-inspired state that Vice City is located in, and sure enough, an alternate universe version of the troubled town could be seen in the game’s trailer.
PlayStation’s next wave of first-party PC ports has been leaked online, and if this rumor is true then some of the company’s biggest exclusives are branching out in 2024. While Sony’s staple of first-party studios has naturally focused on making exclusive titles for PlayStation consoles, Sony has been working toward bringing some of these games to a wider PC audience in recent years. This has had mixed results so far, with titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and 2018’s God of War finding major success while others like Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and The Last of Us Part 1 struggling to make sales on PC outlets like Steam.

Observers are already speculating about possible Peter Parker storylines for Spider-Man 3, and plenty of gamers are already waiting for DLC for the current entry.

There has been very little official information in the years since the Indiana Jones game’s first 30-second teaser trailer was shown, save that it is being produced exclusively for PC and Xbox consoles following Microsoft’s buyout of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media in 2021.
A divisive Tekken 8 accessibility feature is reportedly being altered ahead of launch after concerns that it could lead to players being hospitalized. Many video games have taken great strides in making sure that everyone can enjoy them over the past few years, and fans got to see some of Tekken 8’s accessibility features when its free demo was released in early December. These included color filters that are meant to help colorblind players see the onscreen action and menu UI elements that they would have difficulty with otherwise.
You know the phrase, “This is why we can’t have anything nice?” Well, that’s the feeling many game developers have felt over the last several years because hackers have come in and tried to ruin things for them in one form or another. You might recall when Rockstar Games was hacked, and alpha-based videos of their upcoming title hit the internet, causing all sorts of backlash when it did. Then, late last year, Insomniac Games was the latest victim of a hack, where a whole bunch of data was revealed about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and future games they might be producing.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is one of the big heavy hitters for the Sony PlayStation platforms. PlayStation 4 saw the release of the first installment from Insomniac Games. It was such a big hit that it didn’t take long before they released Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Then, fast forward a bit, and we saw the official Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launch into the marketplace. That had quite a few fans eager to pick up a PlayStation 5 console alone to experience this game. Unfortunately, the famed development studio that brought these games out was recently hit with a ransomware attack.
