Hello! Welcome to the 315th edition of the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up!
This week we digest and discuss the blip in Token availability that happened in EU and what the implications of a world without Battlenet Balance would look like. We also have a great deep dive into some useful TSM operations and strings along with some tips for Waylaid Supplies in Season of Discovery.
My name is Samadan and I'll be your guide through the World of Gold Making!
WoW Token Bug — Don't Panic!
This week saw a great disturbance in the world of gold making, as if millions of goblins suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. We are of course talking about the blip that temporarily prevented EU users from turning WoW Tokens into Battlenet balance. Thankfully, this has been fixed and was not intended, but it certainly highlights one of the core motivations for many to make gold and what would happen if it were removed.
When the news dropped, many of us gold makers gathered together and discussed the implications of what this means and what would happen to the world of gold making. Manthieus has a video explaining his thoughts ..
To reiterate, this has been fixed, but it's worth discussing what a world without Battlenet balance from Tokens would be like. What is your motivation point between spending real money and playing via Tokens?

On a personal level, I'm not sure the latest expansions would draw me to purchase the epic versions or even other cosmetics if I didn't have the ability to pay for them with gold. This is coming from someone who bought Warcraft 3 Reforged and only uses the mount and never played the updated version!
Had that been my real money, I would've deemed it too frivolous and not purchased. That's just me, everyone has their own reasons for making gold and what they use it for. What would you do?
From Blizzards perspective, it's simply a redistribution of other peoples money with a bit of profit for them. Someone buys a token with real money to get gold so that somebody else can use their own gold to use Battlenet balance instead of real money. It's a win win for everybody.
The difficulties come in balancing everything from an incentive point of view.
From a buyers perspective — There must be enough things in the game that are worth spending real money to buy the gold to help acquire them to incentivise someone to part with cash. Mounts like the Brutosaur were a great example of this even if it was massively expensive if you did it that way. Other things like some
