Toge Productions acquires Mojiken Studio

Publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer Kojima Productions have announced OD, a game that “explores the concept of testing your fear threshold.” Platforms and a release date were not announced.

Kojima Productions is, of course, busy with Death Stranding 2’s development in collaboration with Sony, but it has other irons in the fire as well. Last year it was announced that the studio was collaborating with Microsoft on an Xbox-exclusive game, and at The Game Awards, that game was formally unveiled.

The fallout from Wizards of the Coast’s Open Gaming License fiasco continues as MCDM Productions, formerly a producer of popular third-party Dungeons & Dragons supplements, is now striking out on its own. The studio’s next project, due on BackerKit Dec. 7, is a campaign to create its own role-playing game currently called the MCDM RPG. A formal name will be determined at a later date, but delivery is expected by the first half of 2025.

Hermen Hulst, the exec currently in charge of Sony’s network of PS Studios, spent his week in Tokyo – and visited veteran developer Hideo Kojima while he was there. A photograph of the auteur standing side-by-side with the ex-Guerrilla managing director in Kojima Productions’ now infamous office corridor was shared on social media this week, fuelling rumours of a Death Stranding 2 re-reveal.
