The developers behind the upcoming Stellar Blade revealed the real-life South Korean model they worked with in order to create the game's action heroine, Eve. Stellar Blade has been a hot topic of discussion ever since its re-reveal in 2023, with many anticipating its April 26 release. The design of Stellar Blade's protagonist has dominated conversations, especially after the game's latest State of Play trailer.
A lot of the trailers and screenshots prominently focus on Eve, the game's main protagonist. The developers admitted that «special attention» was given to Eve's backside, as that would be what players would be looking at the most during gameplay. This focus on physical appeal is consistent with Shift Up's previous titles, such as Goddess of Victory: Nikke.
Stellar Blade's director, Hyung-Tae Kim, confirmed in an interview with Push Square that they approached a South Korean model, Shin Jae-eun, about basing the game's protagonist on her. Fans were clued into this detail, as a video of Jae-eun being scanned for Stellar Blade's protagonist was posted online around the end of 2023. This is the first time the developers officially confirmed that she was involved with the game, wanting to use her body as a reference to create the «most attractive looking body» for players to look at.
Characters being digitally modeled after real-life people have been a rather popular trend in the AAA gaming space, as seen with games like Devil May Cry 5, Spider-Man, and the Like a Dragon series. These scans help give the characters a realistic feel. While Jae-eun's body was used as a reference for the Stellar Blade protagonist, Kim says that Eve's face was created in-house. «Yes, we did base the character of Eve on the model Shin Jae-eun,» said Kim. «We thought that her body shape would be a good reference for the character that we were pursuing. But the face was created originally in-house — it’s just the body of the model that we scanned for the game.»

Kim also confirmed that players will be able to dress up Eve in 30 different costumes in Stellar Blade, obtainable from completing certain objectives or side quests. Many of them were shown in the January PlayStation State of Play trailer, where players can find costumes that range from wholesome to risqué. Eve can also be customized with different hairstyles and accessories such as glasses and earrings.
Stellar Blade is an action-RPG developed by Shift Up and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Samsung has been reported on a few occasions to be struggling with its 3nm GAA yields, and while the logical move might have been to find ways to improve that percentage, the Korean foundry is making a monumental leap towards mass producing its 2nm node. However, according to one update, the company is not actually pursuing the production of 2nm wafers but has labeled its second-generation 3nm technology with the same name. Naturally, this can cause confusion for Samsung’s clients and mislead them into thinking that they are receiving wafers on a cutting-edge manufacturing process.
Helldivers, we have yet another problem. Despite their best efforts, some Helldivers 2 recruits – and I'm not just talking about new cadets, who get the benefit of the doubt – are really struggling with the escort missions currently dominating the Automaton warfront. I get it, they're hard. Arguably too hard on occasion, the occasion being, almost every single one on any remotely high difficulty. But the bugs and bots ain't going anywhere and neither are escort missions, so we're gonna have to get through this together. Luckily, the community's been hard at work sharing helpful tips for escorting civilians while keeping their insides inside at least 25% of the time.
The news of possible multiplatform ports of games that are currently Xbox console exclusives was met with a strangely negative reaction from some gaming fans, but now that the four titles receiving ports have been confirmed, Microsoft needs to do even more to end the anti-consumer tactic of exclusivity once and for all. Some hardcore Xbox enthusiasts reacted as if multiplatform releases are a betrayal by Microsoft and opine that there is no longer any reason to own an Xbox console. This serves as a reminder that consumers have been conditioned for far too long to perceive exclusives as beneficial.
Shift Up’s Stellar Blade isn’t out for another two months, but retail copies are apparently already stocked in Japan. Genki on Twitter got their hands on one and revealed the back specifying “more than 35 GB” of free space for installation.
The download size of Stellar Blade may be in the ballpark of 35GB, as suggested by one newly emerged leak. Although the source of the claim seems to be a prematurely revealed official estimate, that's quite a modest figure for a contemporary AAA game, to the point that some fans have already expressed skepticism about whether Stellar Blade could truly end up being so small.
Developer Shift Up has confirmed that its upcoming PS5 exclusive action RPG Stellar Blade will feature multiple options to allow players to tweak the game's performance. These settings will take the form of three different Stellar Blade graphics settings that players can choose based on their preferences.
Shift Up’s Stellar Blade is coming soon to PS5, and several new details are available following an impressive showing at the latest State of Play. The action-adventure RPG promises fast-paced action akin to NieR: Automata (which served as a “huge driving force” for the project), but for those who aren’t as skilled, there are options to make things easier.
With a fairly barren line-up of titles from Sony in the coming year, PS5 exclusives like Shift Up’s Stellar Blade will become essential. The action-adventure RPG has looked very impressive thus far, especially in the latest State of Play trailer, but what graphical options can players expect?
The United States’ Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated Shift Up’s Stellar Blade, and to no one’s surprise, it’s “M” for “Mature 17+” due to “Blood and Gore, Language, Suggestive Themes, and Violence.”
Shift Up’s upcoming PS5-exclusive action RPG Stellar Blade has been given an 18+ rating in Korea. This might not come as a surprise to many people, but it may render the game off limits for some players. In screenshots and trailers released so far, the game’s protagonist wears generally form-hugging outfits that don't leave much hidden, and the developer has even revealed that “special attention” was paid to Eve’s backside in Stellar Blade since players will spend most of their time looking at it.
