Intel's Core i9-14900KS CPU has allegedly been pictured and could be another 6 GHz barrier-crushing chip like its previous KS sibling.
The picture of an alleged Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU was spotted by HXL (@9550pro) over at the QQ social outlet. The picture shows a CPU that reads Intel Core i9-14900KS but it is reported that there is no way that it can be confirmed that this is a real chip. Certain portions of the chip such as its QR code and PCB label have been cut out which means either the poster of this image decided to hide the source or it is simply not real since faking labels on a heat spreader is a very common thing.
However, reports of the Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU have been roaming the web for a while now. A few months back, it was reported that Intel was working on the chip which was followed by retailer listings however nothing conclusive has shown up so far.
Coming to the specifications, the Intel Core i9-14900KS Desktop CPU should offer the same config as the Core i9-14900K with 24 cores in an 8 P-Core and 16 E-Core layout, 32 threads & a boost clock of up to 6.20 GHz which is 200 MHz higher than the Core i9-13900KS and the Core i9-14900K, both of which operate at up to 6.0 GHz. The CPU should also retain its 36 MB of L3 cache and 32 MB of L2 cache. This will make it the fastest-clocked chip on the planet, exceeding the 14900K & 13900KS.
As for when we can expect a chip like the Core i9-14900KS to launch, Intel is planning a CES event, and the Core i9-13900KS was also unveiled around CES 2023 so it will make sense for them to have a third & last "KS" chip for the LGA 1700 socket this year too.
