The Quinfall has a brand new lore video taking us into the history of the realm, setting up the very biomes and conflicts we'll be stepping into.
The team has been sharing a number of video previews and gameplay videos over the past few weeks, giving a look at the world, cities and towns, building, some of the environments, and even how the extensive pet systems and mechanics will work.
This video is different from the others because it is narrated. It's also set against various still images instead of over a gameplay video, but it serves to establish the lore and to introduce some of the biomes to expect.
The first planet he created has a large desert area to reflect his own feelings of solitude, but then a green and lush area to try and help. When that didn’t resolve the loneliness, well, time to make a snowy and icy area that represented “infinite power and majesty”. These experiments and creations continued with a damp and wet planet, “leaving a dirty impression”. Maybe we can think of it as almost a form of art therapy for deities.
The point of all this is the creation of a large portal planet, connecting all of the other planets and existing full of different biomes that reflected all of the previous characteristics. This is Quinfall. The god’s powers running out, he created a son to serve as a kind of caretaker god and help resolve the threats and issues that had arisen. Instead of creating, he built armies. They were able to seal rifts and monsters away, but the army dispersed and the people spread out across the planet.
Now that we know what Quinfall is, and more of the features, let’s see if the devs have successfully tempted people into the upcoming, still to be announced playtest, and beyond.

Deep in my heart I know that Hall of Fame-type accolades are largely just a way of dressing up a way of marketing your awards show/museum/whatever, but I also like to occasionally cast away the cynic in me and imagine a world in which this industry’s most important games and creators are rightly recognised, celebrated and preserved rather than being locked away in the vault of billion-dollar companies and left to rot. Imagine!

The Strong National Museum of Play has revealed this year's inductees into the World Video Game Hall of Fame. Asteroids, Myst, Resident Evil, SimCity and Ultima have made the cut. While that means the likes of Guitar Hero, Metroid and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater miss out from the slate of finalists, it would be hard to make a case against any of the five inductees.
