You might not know this if you grew up in the later eras of Nintendo, but the company ran an esports competition called the Nintendo World Championships way back in 1990. The event toured 29 American cities and players from across the country gathered to compete using a custom Nintendo Entertainment System Game Pak. The cartridge used in the event went on to become a prized collectors’ item, but now, players will get a chance to buy a physical item directly inspired by it.

Amazon started canceling pre-orders for upcoming Nintendo Switch games last month without explanation. Those games have remained unavailable on Amazon ever since, and now Walmart has followed suit. Online pre-orders for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door at the big box store have been canceled, just like they were on Amazon a month ago. It's been 28 years since was released on Nintendo 64, but players have finally been able to solve one of its last remaining mysteries. A lone cabin door at the bottom of the game's fourth course, (aka. Snow World) was previously thought to be unopenable from the outside, setting it apart from the majority that players come across in the game which open both ways. The door is clearly fully functional, as Mario has always been able to use it from the inside after diving into a chimney at the top of the mountain and going down a slide, but hitboxes prevent players from making their way back through it after leaving the cabin.
