Free Range Games has shared a new trailer to celebrate the game’s release.
The trailer celebrates the fact that the survival game is now officially available on the PlayStation 5. Prior to this, the game was released earlier this year on PC via the Epic Games Store and will later be released on Xbox Series X|S in early 2024.
Check out the launch trailer for the game, which dives deep into the mines of Moria and shows off some gameplay, on YouTube below (watch more trailers):
The new Lord of the Rings game has players create their own dwarf, who they play as during their journey into the mines of Moria as they seek to restore the former Dwarven kingdom to its previous glory. Either alone or with friends, players will excavate, craft, fight, and explore Khazad-dûm.
“The story of The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria takes players beyond the books and into the Fourth Age of Middle-earth, the fantastical world created by J.R.R. Tolkien,” reads the game’s synopsis. “Summoned to the Misty Mountains by Lord Gimli Lockbearer, players take control of a company of Dwarves tasked to reclaim the lost spoils from the Dwarven homeland of Moria — known as Khazad-dûm or Dwarrowdelf — in the depths below their very feet.
“Their quest will require fortitude and teamwork, delving deep into the Mines of Moria to recover its treasures and in the hopes of one day restoring them to their former glory.”

Remember the guy with the balls so big he sued Amazon and JRR Tolkien's grandson, claiming they infringed on his Lord of the Rings fanfic with the Rings of Power TV series? In a shocking turn of events that no one (except literally everyone) saw coming, he lost badly and now owes the Tolkien estate $134,000 in legal fees.
Free Range Game's hairy spelunking simulator comes hot on the heels of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, a low point of the year and a horrible adaptation of Tolkien's IP. While it isn't as abjectly awful as Daedalic's folly, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is, sadly, also a disappointment.
It’s been a rather interesting year for fans of thePokemon franchise. Last year, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet was released on Nintendo Switch, and while it was an incredible game in many ways, it also had the buggiest launch in the series’ history. Yes, that was counteracted by the massive amounts of units they sold in the first few days of release, but sales aren’t everything. Fast forward to 2023, and The Pokemon Company announced a two-part DLC called “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero” that would take players to all-new areas and give them even more to do in this vast world.
Even though its release is nearly two years away. Grand Theft Auto 6 or GTA 6 has already started shattering records. The GTA 6 trailer went live on December 4 and it amassed a staggering 93 million views in the first 24 hours, breaking the record for most views in the initial 24-hour period for a non-music video, overtaking the previous record of YouTuber Mr. Beast. While the trailer showcased the stunning world of GTA 6 and confirmed that the game will indeed be set in Vice City, not much information about the storyline was given away. However, the 1-minute 31-second clip was enough for eagle-eyed Rockstar Games fans to spot major details about the likely prologue mission of GTA 6. Know all about it.
We could have got a large-scale Starfield co-op mod from the team behind Skyrim Together, but there’s just one issue: The modder who started work on the project thinks the space-faring RPG is “fucking trash.”
Open Betas of The Finals has been enough to turn this FPS into a very anticipated multiplayer game. As one of the biggest surprises of The Game Awards, Embark surprise launched the game on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Seven years after the launch of No Man's Sky, Hello Games is finally looking towards a new horizon. The developer appeared at The Game Awards 2023 to showcase Light No Fire – a brand-new co-op adventure that looks like a daring cross between Valheim and Death Stranding, routed through an expansive fantasy world akin to Pandora or Middle-earth.
Today, T he Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria arrives on a new platform, with PlayStation 5 owners now able to enjoy the survival crafting game.
Director Wes Ball says his live-action The Legend of Zelda is going to subvert expectations.
The Lord of the Rings is a cultural icon that needs no introduction and has been the inspiration (officially or otherwise) for a vast number of games across many genres. 2023 has perhaps not been a golden year for such titles, however, with the disastrous release of Gollum leaving a bad taste in even the most devoted of Tolkienist’s mouths. Return to Moria is a very different kettle of fish, however, and offers to shine a spotlight on the often-overlooked dwarves of Middle Earth.
